We don't know enough about the guy to be able to say.
We do know that he took Sussex to their first ever County Championship, which is more than the Second Choice Steve ever achieved in the footie world.

He was also in charge of a succesful National Academy in Loughborough. I think the ECB didnt want to make the same mistake as the FA and get rejected from other coaches.
