Peter Lovenkrands

Agreed. It will be interesting to see who the next big forward signing will be. It's got to be either Cisse or Little Ronny. ;) Eidur would be good too.

Can't Lovenkrands play on the wings too? In which case I think he'd be a good signing.

Only seen him play a couple of times but i know a few Rangers fans and they love him.
He's a good versatile player with great pace, so he could be worth a shout

Although he would be a good signing I havent heard a word on him being either unhappy at Ibrox or particularly having a burning desire to play in the Prem atm.

Løvenkrands usually play on one of the wings in the Danish national team. I believe he's upfront in Rangers, ey??

- In spite of Inter putting in some decent money for him, he told the Danish TV2 that he was happy where he was, and had absoulutely no plans of leaving. - He might end out as a legend there, just like B. Laudrup <img src="graemlins/keano.gif" border="0" alt="[Keano]" />

He played on the wing against Celtic but they kicked lumps out of him and he had to go off at helf time. Looked qiute good though, maybe if we did sign him it could give Becks the chance to see how well he would play in the centre. That said it would be nice to have some great quality cover for Becks.

This guy is quite strong in the air and has quite good skills, etc. He seems to remind me of Bergkamp, but not yet in the same league, but perhaps one day. He can play on both wings which is quite useful. However Ronaldinho is by far a better forward to have and he can play on either wings if needed as his style is suited to the winger/forward position. Cisse will be a great striker soon and I would say that signing Cisse would at least stop Arsenal from getting him - Henry-Cisse would be disastrous for us. However I still feel Ronaldinho-RVN will be the best partnership for us.

Juventus also made a bid for him apparently but he turned it down because he was content to stay in Scotland. This was only a few months ago.

He's guarenteed European football every season, almost guarenteed to be automatic first choice.
Look at Henrik Larsson, he's been happy to stay in Scotland.

But that certainly does not mean that these guys would not leave their clubs should they have a choice.

I gather from this story that it isnt wage demands, more like the Rangers board stalling. Lovenkrands has stated his eagerness to sign a new deal and will walk out if the deal isnt done soon because no deal has been offered yet and no negotiations have taken place. His current contract expires in 2004, and it's pretty reasonable for him to want to get the deal done asap. Hes only made about 15 appearances for Rangers and hes only 22 so I'm sure he hasnt got a burning desire to leave just yet. We should be on full alert though imo to see if the situation changes when the transfer window opens again.

Doesnt sound like he's unhappy at all to me.

"Of course players will always think about trying something new but for me, the way I feel now, I can honestly say that I could stay here for the rest of my career. If everything continues to go as well for me as it is right now then I would have no problem with that. I have two years left on my current deal and I am looking to extend it by as long as possible."

Lovenkrands would be a great player for the amount he would go for, approx. £10-£12 in my opinion, they were the sort of figures liverpool apparently were being quoted when they were sniffing around the Dutchman.

Dutchman??

- Btw... as I've already mentioned... he's going nowhere!

Very fast, 95% of the time he's played out on the left wing. He's played in a central role in a couple of matches against Celtic and notched a few goals but he's a winger first and foremost. He's been tried out on the right once or twice but it doesn't suit him because, like all left-footed players, he's not got a right foot.

Furthermore, he won't be going anywhere within the next season or so. Although I can see him moving to one of the big 3 leagues at the end of next season (2003/4), with a projected fee of around £10-11 million.

I think the biggest issue that most people are overlooking here is that Rangers need money big time, so if a team puts in a decent offer, especially considering they are out of UEFA cup and lost the financial rewards that brings, they may not be able to refuse.

I have seen this guy play a lot in the SPL, and he would be a good aquisistion, but I think he would be more of a last resort, in that if we do not get any of the "bigger" names being thrown about.

Get di canio for real this time he may well be on a free come the transfer window

Well SAF is a known admirer or Rangers and I'm sure he keeps a close eye on their results. If he has than I'm sure he will have noted Lovenkrands as a decent player. ;)
