Listening to 'Petestrumentals' and 'All Souled Out', amongst his collection of excellent music, I have come to the conclusion that Pete Rock is not only the master of music, but a genius.
His music puts me on another planet. I can't find another musician who has that consistency to create every song as good as the last. I find it quite rare in today's music to be able to put an album on and listen to it the whole way through without getting that itchy 'skip track' finger, or to even question it. I find with Pete Rock I can just press play and listen from start to end, and feel almost educated in the process.
I have every album he has released, as well as mixtapes and singles. He is unique, but he has a signiture sound that only he can create. The moment you here a Pete Rock beat, you know it's him. There is no debate or questions, it's never someone else, you just know it's him. I love that about his music, each song has that resemblance of another one of his songs but they never sound the same or bore you.
Truly, my favourite artist. I fully recommend him to everyone out there who appreciates good music. It doesn't matter if you don't like Jazz/Funk/Soul/Hip-Hop, just give him a try and see how you feel about him. I can't wait for his new album, without a doubt it will be another classic.
