Pelle to Chinese club - Shandong Luneng for 12m

How many of these Chinese clubs are super rich? Or is it just one club trying to sign all these players?

I dont believe the Ighalo rumors at all, but 12m is still pretty low unless he was on his last year.

One last massive paycheck before retiring into a life of luxury. Sounds good to me.

I had no idea he was 30. Still seems low considering the crazy prices these Chinese clubs love to throw around.

Do you think it is only the guys with a fetish for asian girls that go over there.. like with Dubai I can understand going there for money because it is a pretty western lifestyle over there but China must be so difficult to adapt to for the average european.

Linked with Everton recently, still had a bit more to give at a decent level. Wonder how long will these lads stick it there?

They're stocking up on some very decent players there, is the 3 foreigners limit still in place?

Jesus, we should make an announcement on our site that 'We are not going to sell Wayne Rooney to China, not even for 100 mln quid. feck you guys. Wanna try? Come at us with the offer'. Maybe they will bite.

I've never been to China but from what I've heard Shanghai and Beijing are world class, cosmopolitan cities, especially if you have money.

Don't know anything about Shandong though.

His hair alone is worth £12 million.

There's no hope for Rooney at all.

If DM are right, they paid £13m to sign him, and then they will pay him £13.6million a year.

Money aside it seems a strange decision. He had plenty of top level football left in him. Unless he just fancied living in China for the life experience.

He'll be 31 later this month, so I guess he's decided it's a good idea to choose the money at this stage of his career.

Started few years back, many of the clubs in China Super League were bought over by some of the cash rich China corporations. Many of those clubs were previously privately owned and run, but now are under the management of those corporation. I am not sure if it is a directives by China football associations, but I guess it is. It is kind of similar to K-League, where corporations such as Samsung, Kia, Daewoo, run their own clubs.

Just to name a few, Shandong Luneng is owned by Luneng Group, http://www.bloomberg.com/research/stocks/private/snapshot.asp?privcapId=13624340
Shanghai Greenland Shenhua is owned by Greenland Group, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greenland_Group
GuangZhou Evergrande Taobao is co-owned by Evergrande and Alibaba, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evergrande_Group, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alibaba_Group

Inter and AC Milan have been sold to Chinese corporations recently
Inter's new owner owne Jiangsu Suning FC in China, Jo, Alex Texeira and Ramires are playing for this team. Actually when it was announced that Inter was bought over by Suning group, I was expecting, maybe Ramires would be "loaned" to Inter.

Maybe he was persuaded by the coach, Felix Magath?

Well, the Chinese economy is currently overtaking the US one and although their individual wealth isn't as great there are a billion of them. That means that potential earnings for a professional league in China are massive. China's been waking up to it's potential for a couple of decades now and businesses in China will have been watching how much money the Chinese are pumping into European football and decided they could do that domestically.

The Chinese economy is a huge precarious bubble. When your construction industry builds towns and cities that nobody can afford to live in then tears them down to build again just to keep people in work its not a good sign.

Basically retired himself from top class football, I'm certain he could have got a top move this summer as well.

Realistically what more can a player like him achieve though? Hes not suddenly going to lead an renaissance of fallen giants Inter, its a pretty wise move, he was good PL level striker proved himself here, now is going to ensure he lives a life of luxury for the rest of his days. And if he gets bored after a couple of years he'll have probably made enough to come back to europe if he wants.

Newsflash - most people don't moved abroad just to enjoy the same lifestyle they had at home. I've been to Dubai and I was not impressed. Just like a giant shopping mall in the middle of the desert.

I would gladly transfer to any club near Macau. It is said to put Vegas to shame.

Can't blame him. He won't get paid this handsomely at any other club, won't get transferred to a bigger club where he can win things and he's nearing the end of his career.

Gives it large then hits a truly awful penalty. That's how he will be remembered.

What is the tax like in China?

45% in the highest brackets according to wiki. Don't know what else needs to be payed though. It seems plausible to assume that players make a very good living down there judging by the names that followed chinese calls.

Will be interesting to see if Italy still picks him despite playing out there. If so then I can imagine China becoming even more tempting for players 28+...Just look at those wages!

if those wages are correct we should offer verratti treble his wages!
