HARRY KEWELL wants £15million to leave Leeds.
On a day when 527 players lost their jobs, SunSport can reveal the astonishing figure he will demand for a four-year contract at a new club.
Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool are all interested in him but will quickly realise they would virtually have to double his current wages of £38,000 a week.
If the £8m-rated player does not get his own way he is ready to make cash-strapped Leeds suffer by sitting tight for a year and becoming a free agent.
That prospect will horrify new Leeds chairman Professor John McKenzie, trying to sort out the club's financial crisis.
Kewell, 24, is making his demands just when other footballers are having to accept much lower financial terms.
But he knows what Manchester United players are on and believes he should be in their upper bracket of £70,000 a week.
With signing-on fees and bonuses a four-year contract would be worth more than £15m.
Most worryingly for Leeds is that some Italian clubs will give him £6m as a signing-on bonus on top of his wage demands if he becomes a free agent.
Arsenal will not match his new wage demands as they are looking to tie up Patrick Vieira and Robert Pires on deals worth less.Kewell's agent Bernie Mandic has confirmed Arsenal have offered Ray Parlour in part exchange but personal terms are a problem.
Alex Ferguson can meet the terms but might question Kewell's motives.
A friend of Kewell said: "Harry knows Rio Ferdinand is on £70,000 at Manchester United and he believes if a defender he outshines each time they face each other can earn that much so should he.
"Harry's always wanted to play for one of the big clubs in Europe and there will never be a better time.
"The financial rewards are incredible and there's no doubt he will be a big star wherever he goes."
But Leeds are determined to hold on to Kewell's fellow Aussie, Mark Viduka.
Chairman McKenzie has hit out angrily at reports that striker Viduka, 27, is a target for Tottenham, AC Milan and Lazio.
Professor McKenzie said: "We do not want to sell. I spoke with Mark before he returned home and he's happy to stay at Leeds.
"We have had no approaches and I'm confident he will stay
