Panesar racially abused

fecking disgraceful.

I thought the Aussi's were above all this, its a sad state of affairs really.

Looks like we better go and arrest them all again....

It is the downside of Aussie cricket that drunken feckwits can spoil a day out. While these comments were at the tamer end of racist bullshit they are, of course, still a disgrace and have been roundly condemed in the Aussie press. Apparently more people were chucked out than stated in the article and it is thought that the ones thrown out were responsible for some or all of the abuse.

It hasn't helped that Panesar was identified by the press a few months ago as being vulnerable to "sledging" giving the neanderthals an easy and obvious target.

You did?

Even Australian cricketeers have been accused of racism. Remember a few years back when the Bangladeshi team went to Australia and some of their players experienced it from them (as reported on the media).

I found it stupid. One fan apparently said come crap about him being an Indian playing for England. Of course you're going to get that once in awhile. Look at what happens when a footballer passes near the opposition fans. They have all the abuses in the dictionary. As long as it isnt on a large scale.

If someone said that to me(I'm Indian), I really wouldn't give a feck. It sounds so childish.

I find it hard to take this seriously. Monty must be laughing his ass off. Apprently the guy called him by saying 'you INDIAN..'. Terrifying stuff.

You're one of us, mate. ;)

The newspaper alleges a spectator shouted at Panesar: "Give us a wave, Monty. You can't speak English, you stupid Indian. I'll have to say it in Indian.

"What are you doing playing in the English side? You're not English."

My god, how bloody terrible, I mean they called him a stupid Indian and all.

Sounds like the abusers should be laughed at for such a pathetic attempt at abuse.

Don't see how THAT is so bad at all, personally it's just as bad as the poms calling us convicts, which they do. And I couldn't care less.

But surely something was missing there, and if there wasn't, then what's he having a sook about? He's just showed to everyone that he is infact British in essence, being a ninny and all.

How fecking soft.

Paul Hayward: Fun police are missing the real offenders in Ashes battle
29th November 2006

Target practice: Monty Panesar warms up at The Gabba where he faced abuse about being left out

None of the draconian rules in Australia's Test arenas could stop some locals singing: "I'd rather be a Paki than a Pom" in Brisbane or the English legions taunting Brett Lee with: "Does your boyfriend know you're here?"
This Ashes series is turning into a war between political correctness and the anarchist tendencies of modern cricket crowds.
I thought I was hearing things when the "Paki" chant emanated from the Vulture Street end at The Gabba. Some reports say there were also chants of: "Where's your Paki gone?" — an abominable reference to England's Monty Panesar, a Sikh of Indian origin.
Too dumb even to get their insults right, these dimwits have given us something more important to worry about than the fun police banning the Mexican wave and throwing the Barmy Army's bugler out of the ground.
Sajid Mahmood says he was also abused during a drinks interval.

I thought cricket was above all this crap! :(

Is it racist to call someone a Paki?

The papers in both the UAE and India refer to the Pakistan cricket team as either Pak or the Pakis dependant on space for the rest of the column. Personally I don't see this as any worse than Aussie, Pommie or Scouse Tw@t but others may deem different.!!
