sometimes it takes over a minute for a page to load because people have posted a video and then someone has quoted it etc.
is it possible to 'suggest' people only do this in the video thread?

Example thread please?

no videos .. pics .. and quoting them multiple times on the same page wont slow down the net

Pull the string a bit tighter.

Think of how bad life would suck with dial up

Really can't see what the problem could be then..

I think the reason most people are finding this funny is because, at least in my case, this site always seems to load up very quickly. Videos or no videos..

It's probably because I use Safari as a browser.. the page loads instantly, then as I scroll down it hangs for at least a minute until the whole page contents are loaded

Yup it loads fine in firefox 3.5.2 but consistently hangs in Safari 4.0.3 which is supposed to be the fastest browser there is!

I have a mac with a poorer spec abd it all loads fine.

I hope that helps.

At a guess, it's not directly related to the Youtube videos.

It could be computer related - a browser add-on needing an update or failing, a link scanner/phishing check scanner not responding.
It could be due to one or more ads playing up, sometimes browsers hang waiting for an adserver to reply which can affect some people/locations/machines more than others as a lot of ads are context sensitive and context can even include things like which Browser are you using.

I've had the same kind of thing happen in threads with no posted vid/photos, fortunately for me it's rare.

They take a while for me as well, but that's because I'm on an old-arse internet connection. One of these days I'll get off my butt and upgrade.

Theoretically, I wonder if the video's were posted inside a spoiler tag would make a difference? Would it load as the page was loading up, or only when the spoiler was opened? Not that I expect anyone to do that though.
