Cragnotti admits Lazio Owen interest

Italian giants Lazio are poised to make another approach for Liverpool's Michael Owen. The Serie A side have been linked with the England international several times before, with speculation at one stage suggesting they had paid £1million just for the right to have first refusal on the striker should he ever wish to leave Anfield.

Now Lazio president Sergio Cragnotti has told The Sun: 'I want Owen. He is a player I would have liked to have had at Lazio for some time now.

'Owen has the talent of an absolute champion. I think he deserves the European Player of the Year award.

'It won't be easy to rip him away from Liverpool -- but we are going to try.

'Our idea is to prepare a winning squad each year, made up of champions.'

He means... a team that can perform progressively worse in the Champions League.

Exactly, Knoxy. It's the same old story: when there's nothing much to talk about, papers come out with these easy piece of news. It's logical that the best teams in the world are always trying to buy new talents. But trying doesn't mean buying.

The only chance Lazio have of getting Owen is if he releases a book slagging off the management.

in fairness Lazio have financial problems, there not going to splash 40 smackers on a Mammys boy whos hamstrings are as tight as Davos thong on a frosty morning

they could get a lot better value for there money elsewhere,
Robbie Fowler for 8 million for starters, as crap as Fowler is Owen is not 5 times better than him

Who are you, his agent?

Lazio will get Owen, JSV, a new stadium, will keep Nesta & Crespo and achieve financial liquidity. All this while winning the scudetto, and beating Roma 3-0.

Cragnotti has said it.

ehehehe, finally you have said something correct, suedesi :D :D <img src="graemlins/angel.gif" border="0" alt="[Angel]" />

With a pay freeze starting in Italy, Lazio being in financial crisis and the standard of Italian footy on the decline mean that Charlton have a better chance of signing Owen.

All is not lost. Cragnotti just has to sell a lot of sauce. Infact, instead of buying jerseys and other Lazio merchandise, he's urging his supporters to buy extra sauce: Pasta Irriducibili.
