I am sorry but why are we paying our players so soo much more than the market rate?! Why aren't we adding incentives and being smart about it (ala Spurs for example). No wonder we can't get rid of the dead-wood; who's going to offer £120k to Smalling, £145k to Mata, Shaw, Jones, Fellaini or £2fecking50k to Lukaku!!

I think we need a thorough re-think of how we splash our cash. In between our crazy transfers and insane wages we've wasted a LOT of money IMHO.

Not really, we have one of lowest wage ratio to our revenue at less than 45% compared to Spurs over 60%, they are not super wealthy like us, this is all they can do is offer Harry Kane 110k a week. If they change and make him one of the highest paid footballer in the league, all of Spurs player will demand the same thing, it would end badly for them. It is unrealistic asking United to get smart and offer the same wage as Spurs, even though West Ham's striker earn more than Harry Kane.

Barca, PSG, Real Madrid and City pay more wages to their players than us in total even though we are the richest club in world, we have one of lowest ratio wage as elite club

Well I'm talking about our squad players mainly. You've got the top lads from most teams up there littered with half our bloody squad!

Most of them were signed when we din't have Champions league football and we hence had to pay over the top for them. Not that we're gonna run dry but it is irritating to see some of our dross on the list.

Wages should be based on the quality of players not by the revenue a club earns and those other clubs you mentioned have better players.

United shouldn't be paying an average player 150k a week just because a smaller club with less revenue offers him 50k.

There are 3 City players on the list who are not regular for City. Smalling, Jones and Young have been here for almost decade, the fact they're very being loyal to United, we are not poor and neither we are not spurs. they had to do because they're poor as fecked and cant compete with us in wage.

Lukaku earns more than double what Kane is on. Mental.

Kane seems perfectly happy at Spurs at the moment, but surely they are going to have to start offering their star players higher salaries at some point?

Otherwise I can see a few players becoming a bit disgruntled.

I'm not sure if its loyalty when they're probably staying because they would have to cut their wage in half at another club

Gotta love the Mail few months ago Shaw was on £100k, Mhiki £180k,.

Have seen other articles that have Shaw @ £70k. Jones @£60k, Smalling @ £70k. Is there an actual break down in our accounts?

Someone who earns 250k. Think 40% goes to tax, while 13% to national insurance. Thans means they pocket around half? 120k
Someone who earns 100k like Kane, pockets 45k. So the difference between the players is lower because of huge tax on huge earnings.

This money helps the free NHS for example.I'm no british

What are you going on about? It’s still nearly double his salary including tax.

Is Zlatan on this money while doing feck all the first half of the season?

Not sure why people believe wages reported by all the shit sources. No one knows what they earn, some of them includes only basic pay and some of them are including all the performance bonuses.

I have never seen that. I have seen many quotes where they are all on £110-130k though.

The wages are similar to other top earning teams. City Chelsea all pay similar, even Arsenal are comparative. Spurs get away with it better, but I did read a couple of months ago Alli wants a big pay rise to stay, and I think Levy would probably sell than break their structure.

last season there was a revelation Zlatan was on eye watering wages, pretty much double reported here. this will be injured Zlatan money

just saying the difference in money between the players is not 150k, but 75k. It's still double, but a smaller double because of tax

That’s what I recall as well.

But yeah, for example, I read something recently about the “low” wages Madrid players are on (barring their absolute stars). Guys like Isco (before renewal) and carvajal etc were on half of Lingard’s wages. We do overpay our squad players. That’s for sure.
