You surely have missed the word "poorest" in front of "player" in your subject, aren't you?

Sorry, you're entitled to your opinions.

And if our season include only the CL, then I may also tend to agree with you.

I think Silvestre is unstable this season.

I will go for Scholes. Simply our best and most consistent midfielder this season. Sometimes he didn't perform well when he played as a forward, but we can't really blame him for that.

I too would say Scholes. He's back to his good old self again and boy do we need him.

i would have to say Scholes too, he's been pretty consistent this year.
a pleasant surprise has been the breakthrough & consistent form of OShea too though. O'Shea for young player of the year!

Let's hope someone comes to the fore to really deserve the award.

Seba's been good in Europe 'so far', but no where near good enough in the Prem.

RVN is beginning to look sharp again. His first touch last night was magical, he should have scored 4 or 5 - which is very encouraging.

Have to agree with those two getting those awards.

Phil Neville is one of the players of the year.

Perhaps you would want to watch a match before launching into one of your Phil Neville Nelly Thimpson you muppet.

Phil has done better than might be expected at CM, but still nowhere near as good as we need to be there. Player of the season? You're fecking mad.

Which games do you watch.

He has been very good in a team generally out of form.

Thats the problem of the season, Phil has done very well this season and all our superstars have either been injured or playing way too poor.
Phil has been one of out top 5 this season imo, which says it all really :(

O'Shea has been the highlight of a below par season so far, and Scholes is one of the few players not underachieving, but surely it takes something special to win the award :(

I'm sticking with RVN to come good, starting with a hatrick against the Hammers :)

Failing that it'll be whoever scores the winning goal against a) the scousers b) siddy rematch c) FA Cup final or d) ECL final :D

phils played well, he had a good run in CM (around six games..) however, he wasn't very good against siddy..

Scholes gets my vote BTW.

Since our performance contrasts each other a lot in the CL and EPL, i feel the need to separate them:

In EPL, no one has been better than Scholes.

In CL, Veron has been the inspiration, 4 goals to his belt in 8 games, that's not even half bad!

O'Shea, then Scholes.

Veron has not performed in the league - even the "experts" agree on that.

Bit of a recurring theme here. Scholesy has been the best of the bunch for consistency; O'Shea has played well also, he had a really good game last night.

Yeahh.. did anyone notice his run in the 2nd half when he left two opponents in his wake... :)

Stretford End certainly noticed it, choruses of "O'Shea, O'Shea, O'Shea, O'Shea" to the Ole tune

:D :D :D

O'Shea for me. Even allowing for his miss on Saturday -- saw the "highlights" yesterday... :(

He has to get the PFA young player award and a place in the Irish team....

nothing new here:

best player - scholes
best young player - oshea
biggest surprise - p. neville
mostmissed - butt/keane

Not exactly spoiled for choice tho are we. :(

By default, either Scholes or O'Shea. They're the only ones that have played consistently well.

Thats the problem, the fact that Seba has arguably been one of our top 5 shows how bad we have been individually.
Nothing to do with systems, rotations, transfer windows or anything else.
Underperforming individuals is the problem, what ever the formation etc each and every one of em should be doing better.

Scholes has been running the show in midfield in the absence of Keano. I thought that Seba would have taken the chance to shine, but with defenders closing him down so quickly in the Premier League he's not able to play his natural game.

O'Shea has shown that he is a classy player and has played well. Too young to be player of the year though.

Not too young to be Young Player of the Year
tho...Wayne Rooney permitting.

Murt, there is no way that Seba has been our top player - yes, he has shone in the CL, but let's be honest, we were in a shit easy league! Seba just hasn't done it in the PL so can't be considered! In the EPL he has possibly been one of our worst players.

Most of our players have individually played very well sometimes and have been poor other times. To sum it up I think they have been average on the whole, which also reflects our position in the league. In my opinion O'shea has been excellent AND consistent. Scholes, after a stuttering start, has also been excellent lately and he should be a close second.

Phil Neville is an honest footballer - full stop! He is not blessed with any class and should not be categorised as "player of year" material.

Have you not watched JOS play this year??
