Unless the opposition gives us a chance to break on them by overcommitting.

It's been a constant theme from the first game to now.

How do we address this?

By training under ten Hag?

it's been addressed by appointing a new manager, lets give him a minute

I'm not that worried about tonight. We're still a work in progress and making so many changes was always going to run the risk of slowing our improvement. Add in that their penalty was horseshit and it's not been so bad.

Drop Maguire and Ronaldo? Our football is so slow and ponderous with them. Maguire slows the pass down, Ronaldo forces hesitation because he can't get away from his marker until the last second.

Ronaldo and Maguire slow us down. And for ETH's style of football you need time.
I am not worried

Very. And Ive had enough of Ronaldo already.

We get it, you wanted another manager. Give it a fecking rest.

We’re missing the same profile in central midfield that was supposed to be the one we were meant to fix — a short to medium passer who can zip the ball around and get play moving under pressure.

Imagine how much our possession would improve with an equivalent press resistant central midfielder to how good Martinez is with the ball at CB?

Ronaldo is an issue and we all know it. We have absolutely no fluidity when he plays. Casemiro needs minutes, he's barely played since he signed. Maguire doesn't fit EtH's style of play, and him having a role is simply a necessity if we're to retain any semblance of match fitness throughout the season.

This is a transitionary period in our history, we're not an amazing team because we won three games on the trot. Our recovery is going to take time.

I mean Ronaldo has barely had a proper touch of the football, Fred has misplaced more than right passes. Not to mention Lindelof at RB. This was always going to be tough. Got unlucky with that decision.

Need to transition under ETH and we have fresh faces today. Nothing to be massively concerned about, a lot of the squad were getting minutes.

Man, not one of these threads after a defeat again, new manager, 7 games in, half the team changed in this game and players playing who we already know can't play that well. Give it some time.

Fred & Casemiro did not work today. No creativity. Fred was in positions to succeed and failed miserably in the first half. He was awful.

All we have is counter attack. We're still absolutely clueless otherwise.

Ronaldo is so finished it's not even funny.

Legs are gone.

I think we know what our weaknesses are. They've been there for many seasons in possession against deep, defensive sides. You can't just flick a switch and it's not going to change overnight. It likely needs a full season of progressing our play by the new manager. Eriksen and Martinez help a bit with quicker progression of the ball but you're not going to undo a failing so systemic with immediacy. At least we're a bit better at beating the first press with those signings I mentioned.

Tonight ultimately we had measured control of the game, they got a lucky penalty and nicked it. We just didn't have enough to carve out the chances against a disciplined side.

Don't understand these posts. Most our opening goals in last 4 games ain't been counters but people keep claiming it.

Was pretty much a different team tonight to what we been playing. I wouldn't worry about it. Lot of players there who shouldn't be near our first 11. And it reflected in the performance, never mind the drama before the game.

BT was pathetic tonight,

A team who can’t control the midfield can’t be a success. A manager whose philosophy doesn’t prioritise it can’t be a success and With players like Casemiro, Eriksen you should be able to do that. If your whole controlling the midfield department depends on one player fdj then that’s a flaw in the coaching itself.

ETH has been here for a year and we still have the same problems.

Oh wait.

Not sure. We have looked much better defensively than last season. And play less tumescent crap and have shown sparks of positivity. Enough to indicate the new coach is making (or starting to make) a difference.

Genuine question (for everyone) - how long did it take Klopp's Liverpool to play good stuff in most matches?

Considering Europa may have been our best chance of champs league football next season, really on the back foot now especially considering only the top team qualifies automatically.

I’d expect Sociedad to beat Sheriffs and Omnomia home and away and finish top.

What are you on about?

It was against Leicester & Southampton too. We're boring
We've got Antony to add to those performances. Not great tonight but give this new team some time.

Just a case of we still have rubbish in this team so our second string team is stale

We will have to wait 1-2 more years to see any squad depth challenging

The same people critising the game are the first to jump and create a thread about winning the league after one convincing win. Took Conte longer to get his team right the season they won the league..... give it time all the mini Roman Abramos...
