Is excellent recently. Brown, O'Shea and Micky are all improving continously throughout the season and now we have a defence which have enough pace and physical presense to cope with nearly all type of attacks.

But the credit should not all go to the back four. Tonight Barthez was brilliant and made three great saves. Besides, Veron and Phil also tackled fiercely and tirelessly in the midfield. They didn't give much time the opponent midfielder to hold the ball and make the pass, and breaking most of their built up by hard tackle and even foul. Just as someone has said before, defence is not only done by the back four, and the recent great defending performance has also proved that.

How about Gary? He's hardworking and smarter player now after Man City match. ;)

Yes, of course. He seems to be playing his best football I've seen in these 2 or 3 years. :)

I think Gary is not play as good as last season after he coming back from injured.
How do you all guys think?

NO. He's playing better than last season at the moment.

The defending starts from the front too. Ruud works his socks off closing down the opposing defenders. And when either Scholes or Forlan play as the withdrawn defender, they put in a lot of work defensively too - Scholes by dropping back into the midfield and helping them out, and Forlan by running non-stop chasing the ball.

Giggs has also started to get back to the way he used to work back and win the ball, and Ole has shown he is no slouch tracking back either.

Everyone is helping out!

Iv gotta say this defence is performing as good as i can remember back to the Bruce and Pally days! I think it should stay as it is for the foreseeable future. Brown looked a lil uncomfortable once or twice tonite though.
