Sure, Arsenal have a tactic that caught us off guard and we couldn't deal with it. There was an interesting thread on how to deal with it here too. But again today we looked absolutely terrible in defending corners and Forest could have had more goals from them. Even the long throws are a pain point for us.
And then when we attack we somehow often fail to clear the first man, which is unacceptable even at a low level of football.
We brought in Andreas Georgson in the summer, but he seems to have been kept on whilst also being relieved of his duties or demoted. Hard to tell. According to Amorim his assistant, Carlos Fernandes, is now in charge of this.
We've been awful for a long time attacking corners, and we've had periods of real nervousness in defending them, which was often compounded by having Dave stuck on his line. Onana isn't some Neuer/Schmeichel who barges into the crowd to deal with the situation, but he's much better than Dave was. Martinez is tiny and without the added protection of Casemiro we don't really have too many aggressive and capable players in there.
But what a novice such as myself fails to understand is how can we so often defend against one or two serious beasts with tiny players who then get brushed off and the opponent gets a nice run onto the ball, while we leave most aerially capable players marking the zone? Does that make sense? Have we at any stage in the last few years tried to match the most dangerous opponents man to man, and has that failed as badly?
