With all the loan moves yesterday, what do you guys think will be our best U21 team now?
I'm pretty excited to see Wilson, Pearson, Rothwell and Andreas play for the U21 regularly. I think the four have a good chance of making it here especially Wilson and Rothwell.

Amos/Gollini
Varela/Janko M Keane Grimshaw James
Pearson Rothwell
Pereira Petrucci Lingard
Wilson

Isn't too shabby.

I'd like to see Lingard either get some sub appearances for the first team or go back on loan. Weir can slot into the left AM slot.

Barmby is at Hartlepool according to his twitter. Harrop and Fletcher are likely to step up to the U21s when healthy.

Weir on the left wing would be a bit fish out of water. Harrop more likely, or Pereira with a rejig elsewhere.

Well - in terms of getting results, it's not good enough. But getting results is not the main thing at junior and reserve-level. The main problem I see with this side is the central midfield. They are both very talented - but Pearson is too inconsistent and Rothwells injury-record is worrying - to say the least.

Pearson not consistent? That's a rather odd thing to say about last years Academy player of the year.

I don't really see why Petrucci is still at the club, would be better for him to move and be playing first team football as he's never going to get that here.

He's not had the chance to be consistent this year due to injuries, selection and the sparse fixture list. Last year he was pretty much the best player on the park in any U18 game he took part in.

I'd say in terms of getting results it's fine - they'll win some, lose some. That's been the case all season anyway so hardly an issue.

I'd like to see Pereira play behind the striker myself!

Didn't Weir play on the left wing a lot last season?

Personally I don't. Don't get me wrong, he's very good there and you could argue whether or not it's his best position. But we're well stocked in that position for years and I'd like to see him moulded into a proper CM because he has all the qualities to play from deep and we need more of that.

Good point, if he's willing we should definitely mold him into a central midfielder. I'd love to see us play more 433, he'd be great in a midfield 3.

Accepting of course that he can't defend, and switches off for long periods in the game regularly.

I'd stick with finding/using a player who is more suited naturally to a central midfielders role.

He's still young and has bags of talent and potential. I think he is very suited to the midfielder position, I do agree with you that he switches off and needs to impose himself more in games and I'm hopeful that he will. But I disagree about his defending, whilst he's no Carrick or the likes, he is quite a good tackler I think.
