Well, let's say in the end that Ryan Giggs was given the chance to emulate O'Shea too at left back ;)

i thought the same at several points during the game. it made me think of tweetie and preferring to play CB - how can you prefer to play CB when you can raid up and down the wing like them two can  much better job in my onion

There seems to be players all over the pitch out of position and enjoying it.

Must confuse the opposition. :D

maybe he should try Ruud in goal and Fab as a striker ....

Look I'm glad the kid has a go, why not. He was loving it.

Grin time again. :D :D :D :D

As I mentioned before in the man of the match thread, O'shea was class tonight down that wing, especially when he dummied the ball and went up the left flank and almost went on to score

The lad is just a box of tricks and just keeps pulling them out!

O'Shea for young player of the year?

Or have they already earmarked that for Rooney? John has consistently outperformed Rooney IMO.

Agree. O'Shea who playing consistently for the biggest club in the world should be young player of the year. There is no reason to give the award to Rooney who only played a bit part in a mid-table PL team.

JOS has been really brilliant. Surely must be worth at least 15 million pounds now. A great testament that the youth set up can still produce quality players after the Beckham generation. One thing though, Fergie says JOS is "lightning quick", while Alan Brazil kept going on and on about JOS lacking pace. Which is which. I think JOS is no Henry but has decent pace.

Why not? He's still young and he shows his abilty to try. Just give a young player to try and carry out their real ability. As for me, he did a good job and followed the instruction from the manager. Keep going on O'shea !!! :)

No need to take Alan Brazil seriously, he doesn't know what he's talking about.

Rooney can have that award, John will have to settle for a european champions medal instead!

The lad tries hard at everything with some degree of style. There is an air of assurance about his football in whatever it is he is doing. I reckon we should allow him to perform as a striker for a few games, if the defenders are all fit. My gut feeling is that he would put away those memories of scuffed chances he has had, for instance against Manchester City.

He is a well-rounded guy in footballing terms. And in his way of doing practically everything with style, I think of Paul Scholes to liken him with, except, maybe that Scholes is little more offensive minded than O'Shea, while O'Shea will surely get the edge on the defensive front. Given the chance, perhaps, O'Shea could develop with offensive qualities a lot more.

He has the substance to become the most complete player in recent years at the club, and at higher level too.

He is just getting better and better everytime I see him play, if it's even possible. A little more experience is all he needs.

He has negated the need for a new full back to a degree. I think he plays as well at full back as he does at centre back but I hope he doesn't suffer from being moved in and out as Wes constantly was. Something about O'Shea tells me he won't be though. Revelation of the season in my book. Forget Escudé.

Good points although I think CB is probably his best position. All credit to Fergie though for giving a run in the full back positions where he has been a revelation. Had he not played there he would probably have been on the bench which would have been a waste.

On the negative side, he does give the ball away with his passing too often for my liking.

Other than that, he is totally outstanding. IMO, with JOS, Rio, Wes, Mickey and the Nevs we have the defence sorted for a good few years. I think we need another left back as cover, but otherwise the future is bright.

With O'Shea and Phil I think our cover for LB is already enough. Though I also agree that O'Shea DOES give the ball away a little too often, but it will improve as he got more experience. Remember he is still only 20.

Yes - he must rank as one of the all time worst players to pull on a Red shirt - still have nightmares of watching him lumber towards the box hacking shot after shot into the Stretty.

Hey Blithy you blithering scumbag..

If you knew the REAL John O'Shea you'd know that he's the best pair of legs exported from Waterford in the last decade (if you don't count Billy Johnners move to Dublin Senior County Hurling) !!!!!!

We were good last night, but I don't think we can reproduce this form for the next encounter..

Ruud On!

JOS has been blasting down the wings for a while. It was only pointed out last night cause he was nearly clear on goal.
