I reckon we have two very promising centre backs here, and Sir Alex obviously believe in them. Wes is 'always' in the team when he's fit, which suggests to me that we will not buy more than 1 established CB this summer - assuming that one of Johnsen or Blanc stays.

Why am I getting a topic about the new kit, when I click on O'Shea and Brown.

Frankly, it I think this is what SAF will do.
It would be great if both Brown and O'Shea given an opportunity to play regularly. Eventhough the results might not bear fruits during the first half of the season (02/03) but I strongly believe that if both of them consistently placed in the first 11, eventually they will come good.

Even if our next season would not come good I would not be too dissapointed knowing both O'Shea and Brown will eventually form a strong central defensive team.

The new Pally and Brucie - that would be great ;)

Is there any truth in the rumour then that Lillian Thuram is to be signed for £18m during the summer with a clause to play in Central Defence?

Btw, John O'Shea is better than Wes Brown... :p

Do you really think that or is it just because you're Irish?

O'shea and Brown may finally play together in United defence -- but that will be many years later. Both of them still have a lot to learn and there are also any other uncertainties. In near future the best we should do is start Blanc and a newly purchased experience CB in most games, and then Brown and O'Shea as backup and also play in some less important or easy games. That way they can learn the trade from experienced WC CB and they can gradually take up the pressure for playing the biggest club in the world at the highest level.

Wes is not a CB. It´s time for him to develop as a WB (!) instead. For us and for England it´s time to create (find) a modern right-back.

Garys injury may have come at a good time for that. I sort of like the guy (Gary)in some funny way but he doesn´t have enough offensive skills. That is also why Becks gets so predictable at times. SAF (and a lot of the fans) should beware of sentimentality and get rid of some so called "local lads"
