For me De La Hoya is going to win, round 6. KO.

Discuss.

Be interesting to see how Oscar comes back from an 18 month break.
Mayorga is a cock, but i'de be surprised if Oscar could knock him out, because he has a decent chin.
De La Hoya by decision...

De La Hoya is an animal, and he was on SSN saying that Mayorga has started a fire in his belly...

Good luck pal. I wouldn't like to take a slap from Angry Oscar.

Mayorga's been bad mouthing Oscar for months now, going as far to take the piss out of his dead mother...
It's fair to say they don't like each other, but you never really know if this is genuine or just promotion for the fight.
Still, i'de love to see Oscar knock the fecker out.

This is an interesting and tricky fight to call. I don't see it as being the great fight that some are expecting.

De La Hoya has been a great champion at six different weights, but almost twenty months out will mean he is going to be a bit ring rusty. He is now diversifying into becoming a promoter and general showbiz whore and has arguably lost his last three in a row, including the Sturm fight. This is his last hurrah and if he wins this I hope he closes the curtain on his great career, rather than go for the big bucks Floyd Mayweather Jnr super-bucks finale he seems to be aiming for.

Mayorga is a clumsy sort of fighter. De La Hoya would've made short work of him three or four years back, but he's got the raw power on his side and he's unpredictable. He's also technically much inferior and easily hittable. He's also a 60 smokes a day man.

Mayorga's best hope is to get in early, take advantage of De La Hoya's ring rustiness and land the big one. I see De La Hoya using his better ringcraft and his four inch reach advantage to stay out of harms way early. De La Hoya will come into the fight more around 4 and start to dominate from 6, assuming he's worked as hard in the gym and is in the kind of shape reported

My thruppence worth, I'm guessing De La Hoya late, or most probably on points.

Btw Welsh..............all this abuse that Mayorga has been spouting....

There's a method in his madness.

He's looking to draw De La hoya to the middle of the ring early.......which somewhat strangely is what De La Hoya has said he will do....go toe to toe.

I don't believe he will and he will be making a big mistake if he does.

I wouldn't give Oscar a chance against Floyd. Not at this stage of his career.
Floyd needs that fight a lot more than Oscar does.
If Oscar does get through this fight, it's hard to say where he would go from there. He may be forced to fight Floyd as that might be the only huge fight available. He could fight Margarito for a belt, but he's not a big enough name. The ideal fight for me would be if he could put up enough cash to get Trinidad out of retirement, to get revenge for a controversial loss.

i have just got in now, thinking i would have missed the fight,.... it still isnt on??

Undercard's been shit.
Fight will probably start in about 15-20 mins.

Round 6, what a belter!!! i got it fecking right!!!

i didnt even put money on it!!!!!

get in there, in a way! i fecking could have won some money!!

Did you see the Hatred in Da Le Hoya, fecking knew it, i should have put money on it!

28/1?? feck! I knew i should have put a tenner on it.

Nevermind, He was shit hot, he put him down in the 1st round.

Oscar is emotional about the bloke slagging him off, but he has forgive him :)

fecking hell, that was a bit of a shock. Oscar's left hook is as good as ever!
You should have put money on it.

I know, am a bit gutted, but am happy for Oscar, i like his Boxing.

He is a Machine.

He's a top guy. Been great for boxing, and he's made a heck of a lot of money out of it.
Would love to see him in a rematch with Tito to end his career.

Did you think so, mate?

I thought Joan ( Lil' Tyson ) Guzman looked superb.

At 30, he's not exactly 'the new Sugar Ray Leonard', but he's got terrific handspeed and is technically brilliant. He's now with Golden Boy Promotions, so I expect to be hearing much more of him in the next eighteen months.

His record is now 26-0-0.

This ain't no Audley Harrison type character, btw. He's not had enough fights, but that's because no-one wants to fight him. As Jim Watt said, 'he's not exactly the type of man you go looking for.'

Yeah, Guzman was impressive, but it was a totally one sided fight. He should have picked it up in the latter stages and looked to finish it.
Would have been very interesting to see the fight with Scott Harrison that was supposed to happen, but he pulled out when he couldn't make the weight.
He was supposed to be fighting at super featherweight (130lbs) for this fight, and yet he comes in to the fight at Welterweight (147lbs) shows a total lack of discipline which may explain why he hasn't had many big fights over the years.
The Ouma fight was OK but nothing special. He did well to recover from the first round knock down.

All the above is true.

Ouma was okay, as you say, nothing more than that. The commentator rabbiting on about the 'boy soldier' and him getting shot outside a McDonalds in the States got on my tits after a while, mind. It was the first time I've seen him tbh.

Guzman is not just a champion in the making, he's a top ten pound for pounder imho.
