A band that has managed to get exponentially better with each release, taking amazing chances and managing to not only win new fans, but not alienate older ones. A perfect blend of the death metal of Still Life, Blackwater Park, and My Arms, Your Hearse, the monolithic riffage of Deliverance and Ghost Reveries, and the prog/classicism of Damnation combined with classic Deep Purple, Pink Floyd, and Scorpions, Watershed marks a new chapter for Opeth, one that promises infinitely more than its predecessors.

Got it yesterday. Awesome album!

I will probably wait till someone I know gets it and copy it. Doubt it's going to be as good as some of their earlier albums.

Like "Blackwater Park" ? Impossible... :)

I can tell you, Watershed is a quality continuation of "Ghost Reveries" and it's still Opeth quality.

Opening track called "Coil" is very melodic ballad with female voice but it's just a intro before a real heavy monster called "Heir Apparent" with brilliant solo parts. The ending of this track is so... Opethish, in the best ways.

Next is "The Lotus Eater" and it's a fast one but melodic. Combination of growling and soft singing. Tempo of playing changing many times...

4th track, "Burden" enters with a piano and soft vocals... good song with quite sad atmosphere.

"Porcelain Heart" with many combinations of calm and heavy playing. Classic Opeth.

"Hessian Peel" sounds so calm in the first 5 minutes... but then the growl and guitars entering and making it really heavy. Another good track with excellent build up.

The last one "Hex Omega" is brilliant, sounds symphonic a little bit but the atmosphere is still dark and rainy. Quality, quality, quality...

That's all... and then you want to listen, again.
