Olympic closing ceremony

Damn that steel tower thing looks amazing, the fruits of a dictatorship shining through

I thought that went really well. :)

So, we are now officially the hsot city, can't wait i've got to say. Yesterday [in my little corner of the world] soured my weekend rather tad but this has lifted my spirits some.

London bits were horribly crap. Disgusted.

What was with the Mayor of London having his suit unbuttoned?

Not that I give a feck, but it just looked stupid next to the others.

Indeed, looked like a hilbilly.

The Chinese did superb as went mass choreographed regimental displays but we'll shwo the world a party!

The London peice was embarrassing. Those dancers with their umbrellas..what the fooking hell was that? I was half expecting a load of chimney sweeps to pop up and start dancing a la Mary Poppins.

Whatever he felt comfortable with i don't mind, people are picking here, looking to put it down.

Not being funny, but what exactly did you think was good about about some over the hill messer dirty dancing with some over-rated pop singer, on a scissor lift.

Looked awful, sounded awful, and made me bring up my Sunday lunch.

Kindly feck off, thanks.

Guy from infernal affairs is there... singing...

Im not saying it was great just ok it was not awful, embarrassing or horribly crap as Nick said people are just trying to put it down. As you said your allowed your opinion just as I am.

You're not supposed to pitch up at the previous city's closing ceremony and upstage them with something well on its way to the equivalent of an opening ceremony.

We'll do ourselves proud come 2012, and all the miserable bastards will still be miserable no matter what we do.

I reckon you'll feck it up to be honest.

There's no need for that, just giving my opinion you clown.

But it didn't look awful, andit didn't sound it neither.

It's the mentality with all too many in this country whether in London or elsewhere, i mean i can be cynical but some people just go out of their way not to be happy or the least bit optimistic.

Repeat after me - London's bit was brilliant, London's bit was brilliant, London's bit was brilliant.

Seriously, I can see the London Olympics being a joke. As I said before, we don't do spectacular in this country. Everything's always on the safe side. China made a statement, and that's what the Olympics are about.

OK.

Again, another silly comment from Nick 2008 LDN. China's bit in Athens' closing ceremony was excellent. It's not about upstaging, rather, giving the world a taste of what's to come.

Fair play if you thought that it was impressive, I didn't - not trying to put it down, simply offering my thoughts.

Straight after our performance, there was candle in the middle of the pitch that took 30 tonnes of steel & 12 months to make, and a well rehearsed performance. Compare that to our scissor lift contribution, thought it looked like we sent a few celebs out to wing it for us, instead of actually planning something interesting & innovative.

Another one eh? I had no idea people were keeping a count, quite a tally is it?

If you want to double LOCOG's budget out of your own wallet, well go right ahead.

I'd much rather every penny possible went into what we do in 2012, you it would seem would like valuable funds went on capping off Beijing.

It was the crappy dancing that really put me off about the London segment. We probably should sent the We Will Rock You cast over to do a better job than those dancers.

Why did Boris (Mayor of London) kept trying to put his hands inside his suit pocket :/

Of all the amazing internationally recognizable British acts they chose Leona Lewis, bare. I would have thought someone like the Rolling Stones or The Who would have made a bigger impact internationally.

Yes, London's shitty bit in the closing ceremony was down to a lack of funds.

Well done.
