The ressies are off to Oslo for the weekend on January 30th. They'll train at Stabæk's indoor Telenor Arena and play a game against their hosts on either the Saturday or the Sunday. The training session(s) will be open to the public.

Edit: Just read a quote from Ole saying that Josh King will be part of the traveling squad. In other words his injury might not be as bad as Sir made it out to be.

For noggies that might be interested the tickets are out for sale. The match is played at 1300 CET on Sunday 31.1.10. So you can watch the match and still make it back to see United beat Arsenal at the Emirates.

I bought four tickets today all seated together right along the middle of the pitch for NOK 200 a piece so they should be easy to come by.

Looking forward to this :D Are you lads going to watch the open training as well? Hoping to get a glimpse of Petrucci and see how he fares. It'll be an interesting encounter, considering all the noggies involved for us and I imagine Stabeak would like to prove a point against a reserve team. Even if it's the most respected reserve team in the world ;)

When is the open training Red Norse?

Is it Saturday? If so then I'll be going.

Yeah, the doors open at 1945 and training starts at 2000. Did you get a seat at the away section? For some reason I didn't, despite being quite quick about getting a ticket.

I didn't know there was an away section for this game to be honest.

I chose "best available tickets" and got them right along the middle, so I'm probably among the home.

Don't think it will matter though, will be mostly United fans there I think.

Freely translated article from MUSCSB - united.no

OGS tells united.no that he will be bringing some big names to the game vs Stabæk. Magnus Eikrem won't be playing, as he is struggling with a back injury, but Ben Foster and Gabriel Oberton might be included in the squad that travels to Norway.

Mame Biram Diouf will probably be playing as well.

Ole Gunnar says that it's a problem that the first team are playing Arsenal the same day, and that it means that the squad will probably be smaller than what he would have wanted. The squad will be mostly the same as it was last night he says.

Ole also says that playing against a senior team that won the Norwegian league only 15 months ago will be a great test for the reserve team. It's part of the learning process for the young players.

Shame about Eikrem, was really looking forward to seeing him. Hardly surprising that he's struggling with growing pains though. He'll probably be 6'2 next time we see him.

feck off.

This would've been great to see, but I'm going to Gran Canaria tomorrow.

Terrible timing.

Yeah, sounded kinda funny to me, the text on Fornebu Arena's homepage might be only applicable to Tippeliga matches. They're expecting close to 10 000 spectators.

Too bad Floyd, a laptop on the beach is a bit risky too. Still, you'll be wading through German housewives if that's a consolation ;)

Anybody going to show up in green and gold?

Is anyone willing to help me out with programme for this ? would be massively apreciated.

Squad: Ben Amos, Ron-Robert Zieler, David Gray, Reece Brown, Oliver Gill, Joe Dudgeon, Oliver Norwood, Sam Hewson, Corry Evans, Matthew James, Gabriel Obertan, Cameron Stewart, Mame Biram Diouf, Febian Brandy, Rodrigo Possebon.

Josh stayed in Manchester to get some rest after his recent injury woes, Kiko's still injured.

Amos, Brown, Gill, Gray, Dudgeon, Norwood, James, Evans, Obertan, Brandy, Mame.

2-0 at half time, Diouf brace. The pace of our front trio is killing them. Will post a full report when I get home.

United's reserves beat Stabaek 3-0 this afternoon, with two goals from Mame Biram Diouf and a third from Joe Dudgeon. Very good performance.

Yeah, quite a lot of people there. Just short of 10k is pretty good for a friendly match in Norway at 1300 on a Sunday.

Very good performance from our lads. Stabæk just couldn't handle Mame, Obertan and to a lesser degree Brandy in the first half and once we got the 3rd early in the second it was game over. From then on we were more than happy to sit deep and hit them on the counter and to be fair Stabæk were a bit unfortunate not to get a goal or two. All in all we defended well against some of the best offensive players in the Norwegian league.

Mame was easily the best player on the pitch with Obertan running him the closest. Amos made a couple of very good saves and was solid but for one feck up which almost gifted Stabæk a goal. Dudgeon took his goal extremely well, Reece brwned Redcafe legend Espen Hoff (I think it was him), Gill just about held his own pace-wise against Daniel Nannskog and the midfield 3 were all solid if unspectacular.

Was at the game with three mates, met up with another four or so also at the game and they all thought Obertan was extremely disappointing.

Had some decent pieces of skill, but over all lost the ball way too much and didn't look bothered really.

I thought Norwood, Dudgeon and Corry Evans were all quite a lot better. And Diouf obviously.

That's pretty amazing. Everyone I've spoken to seems to agree he was the second best player on the pitch. Some decent pieces of skill? He caused them all kinds of trouble with about half a dozen mazy runs. Abysmal? Christ.

Edit; seems the good people at MUSCSB - united.no agree with me. "Along with Diouf, at a slightly higher level than the rest" ('Slik spilte de', can't direct-link it.)

Those runs were quite few in number though and led to nothing.

I was actually most looking forward to seeing him, as I thought he'd be the best player on the pitch.

Quite few in numbers? Again, what game did you watch? He didn't get on the score-sheet or assist any of the goals, but to say his runs led to nothing is a stretch considering he created our 2 best chances apart from the goals.

He had the run in the first 20 minutes on the left side, where he entered into the box, held the ball for too long creating a too narrow angle, and he then shot/passed it wide of the goal.

That's the only chance I remember. Other than that, you have to agree that he had a lot of misplaced passes. A lot of times he would try a trick only for the ball to bounce of his foot. He also just dribbled into trouble several times.

More over he didn't work hard at all, and if the pass he received was too poor he'd just stop and not work for it at all.

I don't know if you subscribe to TV2 Sumo or not, but if you do I strongly suggest you watch the re-run.

I don't. But fair enough, for arguments sake lets say that he did create two or three chances.

What did you think of his work rate, build up play, his passing, how many times he lost the ball etc.

Like I said earlier, he had glimpses of promise with some good skill but his overall contribution was for me very dissapointing. Specially considering that he should be the best player on the pitch.

Will be interesting to see what others think of this, others who have seen the match as well. I'll happily admit to being wrong, but it's strange that my gang and yours have so totally different opinions.

Were you at Telenor btw?

Was at Telenor and I agree, it's rather strange that entire groups of people can be in such disagreement over this particular issue.

As for Obertan's general play I'd say it was pretty much what I've come to expect from him. At times he's too ambitious and his defensive work rate is suspect. He's definitely a work in progress, I'm not denying that. But he stood out due to his pace and ability to beat a man. His one and two touch game was generally good.
