Ambitious Manchester United reserve manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has set his sights on an eventual switch to Norwegian football.

The club legend has bossed the second string for two years and lifted the Premier League Reserves title last term. Since moving in to the coaching staff after retiring from playing, he has been continually linked with posts in his native Scandinavia.

Speaking to reporters, Solskjaer stated he was happy to bide his time under Sir Alex Ferguson before ultimately making an exit to his native land.

"I will await what the manager [Sir Alex Ferguson] does and then we'll see," Solskjaer said.

"I am very happy in Manchester, but will not train the reserves forever. A future coaching career in Norway is something I certainly cannot rule out."

I'm OK with this. I don't think anybody could have expected him to spend the rest of his career managing our reserve team, it was more of a chance for him to get some experience.

Can't see him becoming full time United manager though, so when the time comes I'll wish him well wherever he goes (unless he does a Mark Hughes).

another classic - he is not ruling it out so it must be the plan - reaction from the press.

I actually thought he would have moved up to first team coaching for this coming season, with maybe a plan of him becoming AM at some point (Phelan has been linked with a few jobs in the recent past)

He would never do anything like that. After being so loyal to United as a player for years, why would he suddenly do that? He is not stupid, and he knows that the fans would not like it, and to be honest, I don't think he would like it neither.

If it happens i'd like to see Scholes in the role if he's taken his badges etc. I think away from the limelight coaching the kids would suit him. Ole was never going to stay forever unless we offered him assistant manager etc. Just a matter of time

If he gets an offer from a Norwegian club to become manager, I doubt any sane United fan would begrudge him the opportunity.

And whether he succeeded or failed, I suspect he would return to United in some capacity sooner or later.

coudl indeed be like Rene, who went off to Bronby for a while, then returned after it did not work out. CQ went to Real and came back. I think Ole has also already had some managerial offers - which he has turned down to continue his coaching/managerial education under Fergie.

Maybe wanting to go home comes into it too.

he's been living in Manchester for 15 years and his kids have been raised here. I would imagine England is home for his family now.

Not too sure about that. Just the other week he said "I'll move back home eventually, but it's too early to say when......If I move back home as a coach or as a dad remains to be seen"

If he wants to go back, then it would like be when his children are still small.
