Wes Brown is expected back earlier than at first thought.

:D

Sorry.

Anyway, I hope he proves me wrong - but I don't rate him nearly as highly as I do O'Shea, so I hope he doesn't push JOS further down the pecking order.

No chance IMO...!

Also got a simple question. Why when Keane was sent home from the WC Finals did we not put him straight into hospital for this hip op...? It was muted about last season so why the feck do we wait till the season is three weeks old and loose him for two to three months...! If you did this in industry you'd be hung drawn and quatered, but it's ok when someone is on 60 feckin grand a week....! Awful management and programming IMO..

You scared me when I saw the subject line!
:)

Agree that JOS should be ahead of Wes in the pecking order. To be honest, I'd like to see him partnering Rio now. I think O'Shea put in a very credible performance as a right back yesterday as well. Have to admit he surprised me a bit there. With Gary coming back and with Phil, Wes, and if necessary, JOS providing cover in that position, I think we should just save the money we've been planning on spending on Burdisso (or whoever they've been looking at) and put it in our kitty for a quality 4th striker.

Wes has alot more skill... however, o'shea looks more calm thus the better option.

still reckon wes has got the ability to be a top notch CB.

I remeber at the time they said that is what would happen but obviously it never did, got to wrapped up in promoting the book!

It will be interesting to see how Wes fits back in because I think Fergie favours him over O'Shea. Obviously, John played well enough to keep his place when Rio came back but Larry was preferred, wrongly imo; Gazza should get his RB spot back easily and that should then leave Wes, imo, 4th choice CB and/or back-up RB.

CB's 1-Rio, 2-John, 3-Larry, 4-Wes.
RB's 1-Gazza, 2-Phil or new guy
LB's 1-Micky, 2-New guy or Phil

It amazes me that with two weeks to go before the season starts SAF states: "Roy is as fit as I've ever seen him,he's raring to go and does not need an op following his rest over the summer" Well whoever told SAF to say that needs to be shown the door, bad, bad advice IMO.

Maybe Fergie was right.

He wasn't going to have the op. yet remember. He's only had it now because it was a good idea to remove him from the public eye for a while.

Had he not elbowed Jason MacAteer, he'd have been playing yesterday.

didnt i read somewhere SAF wanted to get into the CL first so needed Keano for that? keane himself said it was down to the distraction of the WC stuff but SAF should have thought for him if this was the case.

I really dont believe that, imo he would have had the operation sometime over the course of the season. In hindsight it was bad timing as Scholes, Veron and Butt have suddenly gotten injured but thats just bad luck.

Itll be good to have Wes back but i would be much happier if it were Keano back soon as its in midfield where were short.

Murt did you hear Fergie's first interview after Sunderland? The one where he said Keane did nothing? He also said Keane was doing fine with the injury and hadn't even needed an injection to play.

A few hours later after changing his mind about the red card he also changed his mind about Keane's fitness... and pulled him out of a game a couple of days later when we had a midfield injury crisis. Captain Subtext is in overdrive on this one.

He decided that it would be best to have the operation asap after the Sunderland game, had he played at Elland Road he may have missed Highbury later on in the season for example. We had no midfield crisis at the time, Scholes, Veron & Butt were fit. No suddenly when those 3 are git it would of course have been better had Keane not been operated and not suspended, but thats hindsight.

So what changed in the space of a day? In case you've forgotten Scholes was injured having been stretchured off against ZTE, hence his exclusion from the England squad, Butt had a toe injury, Chadwick and Fortune were out. That is a crisis and it resulted in a semi fit Scholes playing against Boro, and the shit hitting the fan with the media.

Scholes played against Sunderland and when Keane had the op on the same day Veron & Butt were also fit.
Had Scholes been injured im sure Keanes operation would have been postponed a week or two.

I'm equally sure that Fergie would have wanted Keane for the Leeds game.

Scholes was injured. He was played semi fit (and it showed) risking serious injury against Boro (I assume you meant that when you said sunderland) as a direct result of Keane's abscence. Under any circumstances Keane's op would have been delayed by 24 hours so he could play if he wasn't refusing to play/suspended by the club.

Had Keane been fit why didnt they wait until after the game for the op?
I cant believe that he refused to play or was suspended by the club.

Thems the facts. Draw your own conclusions.

It has to be said we know that Fergie doesn't like looking like an idiot, and he did just that when he defended Keane and then had to backtrack. Also we know Keane threw the dummy out the pram after the Newcastle game, so there is circumstantial evidence to support either.

The one thing we do know for sure is Keane was fit given the Saturday night declaration that he could make it through the entire season before surgery.

He got throught the saturday game fine but the hip was most likely bothering him the next day.
Fergie said fuch it, what with the 3 other CM's being relatively fit (Scholes had a mere bout of "internationalitis") why not operate Keane now rather that do without him later on in the season.
You talk about "facts" but i dont see a single one <img src="confused.gif" border="0">
