ODI Series - Sri Lanka vs England

Sri Lanka made 269-7 in their 50 0vers. Engalnd got off to a good start but are now 61-3.

It's worse than that, 91/4.

That by itself the situation sounds salvagable, but nigh on 23 overs gone the run rate isn't up to much at all.

Our key middle orddr batsmen went for a combined total of 10 runs, though granted there was the odd controversial decision in the mix.

Any hopes we have are in the hands of Cook and Shah, if they can somehow stay together till the finish or near to it, you never know.

The wickets i saw were legitimate? Collingwood get a dodgy one did he?

I heard a correspondent say that KP's was debatable, haven't yet seen it myslef but that's what i heard.

Oh and Cook has gone for 46 and Shah 7, no more you never knows, for we now do know. lol

Oh well

I saw the KP dismissal and it looked to me like he tickled it of his inside edge.

Hmm, okay.

Well two more here in Dambulla, then off to Colombo, though the rain is sure to play a part there, a lottery.

Not a toss a side would want to lose but even so, our batting has let us down once again, the target was not out of reach.

121-6 now. Pathetic effort after the start we had.

150 all out, on a decent wicket asell. Only Cook and Bopara come out with any credit really.

England are today 75/4 after 23 overs.

Collingwood and Shah currently trying to stop the rot.

The men out:

Cook for 1
Mustard 28
Bell 18
Pietersen 12

So as you can see, a vast improvement from the opener on Monday. ;)

Oh and they chose not to go with Panesar again.

60 odd for 4 to a respectable 234/8 having batted out the 50.

I am pleasantly surprised, really impressed with Shah, great knock from him. And equal or better than that was the catch from Silva, quite something apparently.

Swann chipped in with a 34 to form the pride saving partnership with Shah, and who knows, if our bowling/fielding is decent, perhaps something more tangible than that.

Have to keep an eye out for this catch on YouTube, DailyMotion e.t.c. though.

Here's a stat to cheer English hearts, if Sr Lanka were to get 235, it would be the second highest ever total achieved under lights at Dambulla.

Or there is this one instead. Tharanga caught by Cook off the bowling of Sidebottom in the first over for 8.
