Hodgson wants contract talks with Odemwingie - ESPN Soccernet

Hodgson said: "I left Peter out of a couple of the early games which I suppose was never going to endear him to me. He wasn't scoring at the time, people were beginning to doubt his ability and that was shining through a little bit in terms of his attitude throughout.

"That's what front players are like. They are moody people. When they are scoring goals, the world is a beautiful place.

"When they stop scoring goals, everything is wrong with the world and it is everyone's fault except their own. That's the way they operate as a breed."

Interesting how Hodgson slams his player, while trying to resign him.

Hodgson's tactic kinda works because Odemsingie's *stats of late show a player with amazing potential, unless he would be too disruptive to a squad.

City seems to like these stray and wild dogs. Wouldn't be surprised if they make a move for him.

*The past 8 matches: 6 goals, 3 assists

SUPER Eagles striker, Osaze Odemwingie has revealed that the arrival of West Bromwich Albion manager Roy Hodgson cast fear on his future with the club.

The Nigeria striker who has netted 15 goals for the Baggies disclosed that he feared he might not enjoy his stay with the premiership side after being dropped from the first team at the initial stage when Hodgson took over from Roberto Di Matteo who signed him from Locomotive Moscow of Russia.

He said: “When the new manager came in, we were concentrating on defending a lot and the defending started from the front line, so it wasn’t that easy.

I was a bit moody when Di Matteo left and maybe I showed it a bit. But then, life goes on and you have to get on with it. It is still the same team with the same ambition and things started to get better and I moved on.

“It wasn’t easy but I can say now it did help.

“Now I understand that we first play to instruction, and then when you see a little chance to make a difference for the team or yourself you are always free to do it.”

I did enjoy half the story, though. Made it very sensational.

There's not a chance that City would sign him.

Love watching him at the Hawthorns and he's a nice guy to chat with too.. very humble, only game where he's been out of his depth was against Chelsea 3-1.. but they're a powerful team and dominated Albion all over the pitch.

Two footed, bags of pace, dribbles, creates and scores goals but whether he's good enough to play for a bigger club is still debateable.. he'll have to prove it all over again next year to avoid being called a one-season wonder and age is not on his side.

I've always said he is one of our better players, last year people started questioning him and he was left out of the team but he has shown this season he can handle his business

Odemwingie's interview to a Russian newspaper:

"One top club is interested in me. That's why anything is possible this summer."

"Are you talking about Arsenal?"

"I can't say more. But I hope that WBA understand that a top club may not call on a player after he reaches 30."

(Odemwingie is 29, by the way.)

A top club? Really? I doubt that.

Could be Harry again or he's just bragging to a journo.

I know Harry is a muppet but if the level of player he's taking to the club is Friedel and Odemwingie then i'd be concerned if I was a Spurs fan.

WBA is about his level.

He'd be a typical Wenger signing: quick, skilled, slightly-built, cheap, unnecessary. If he were 18 he'd be the quintessential Wenger acquisition.

Apparently Arsenal is his 'dream' club. Them getting this guy is like us getting Charlie Adam. We both can do better than these two players.

He'd be useful for Arsenal. Better than Chamakh. Caused us trouble years ago with Lille. Now causing everyone else trouble in the league.

At £4m they could do much worse, he'd be a decent signing I think.

There's no apparently about it, it's a meltdown!

''A normal team will never let a player who acted like I did come back. My friends there remained friends. The few wish to but can't talk.''

So wait he's criticizing them for giving him a second chance? On top of all that stuff in January he should be glad he didn't join QPR, they are all but relegated after that loss to Villa yesterday.

He's a twat of the highest order.

Harsh to speculate like that. We can be unsure of the specifics of the whole affair.

It's a working dispute that has been aired in public. If I didn't like where I worked and wanted to move I think I would look to do so.

Lukaku is better than him. He should be thankful to WBA for giving him what hes got and for getting a second chance.

Considering he said he only wants to move to QPR, he's got a very specific way of wanting to move if he's oh so unhappy.

The guys a complete idiot. Hopefully dropped entirely now. It's not like he's ever been that good this season to get in the starting line up, he's justifiably on the bench.

Agreed, he seems like a player that only performs when he can be bothered, and that's getting more and more rare these days. Lukaku and Long are both better options than him up front, and Brunt/Thomas/Dorrans/Morrison are all capable of playing on the wing instead of him.

He's better than Rosenberg though, so that's something.

I'm better than Rosenberg. He really has gone about this in an incredibly stupid way. Everyone is going to be a loser out of this now. QPR will probably get relegated and won't want him anymore, or certainly won't be paying him the money he was thinking of. So now West Brom are stuck with a mardy cnut on decent money who turns 32 in a few months. Jeremy Peace will not be a happy bunny.

He wants to live the "London lifestyle", that's why he's so desperate to move down there. They're the only flashy London club that would sign him.

The funniest thing about this is how he is acting like he's totally blameless.

Peter Odemwingie is an anagram of weepier demoting.

Will he be weepily demoted to the reserves now? Is weepily even a word?

his transfer is off again, WBA wont meet the club that put a bid in for him, still training with the reserves and WBA manager says he is not in his plans

West Brom striker Peter Odemwingie's proposed move to Al Nasr is off, Sky sources understand.
The Dubai side have pulled out of the deal because they have become increasingly frustrated with the Premier League club's reluctance to meet with them, despite submitting two bids for the striker.
The latest deal on the table was one that could have risen to over £1.5m but Al Nasr have now ended their interest in the Nigeria international.
That leaves Odemwingie in limbo, after his public flirtation with QPR on the final day of the January transfer window failed to secure a move to Loftus Road.
He is still training with the reserves and has been told he doesn't figure in manager Steve Clarke's plans.
