The Frenchman has been unsettled at St James' Park and was linked with a move away during the January transfer window.

The north London duo are thought to be monitoring N'Zogbia's situation and could make a move for the versatile performer in the summer.

Magpies boss Kevin Keegan says if N'Zogbia still wants to leave in the summer he can go if the price is right.

"When I first came in there were eight days left of the transfer window. Charles and his agent wanted to move him out of here and I wouldn't allow that," said Keegan

"I said if he did his best until the end of the season and felt the same way, I would let him go - if he still wanted to go. But it would be on our terms because he has three years left on his contract here."

Keegan has not entirely given up hope of persuading N'Zogbia to stay on Tyneside and he has enlisted the help of the players to try and convince the French Under-21 international to stick around.

"If he can learn to be a team player with his individual skill, he'll be a hell of an asset for any club. And I would like that club to be Newcastle.

"We have 16 or 17 players who are totally committed, as a pack, to taking this club forward and Charles has got to come into it a little bit more," said Keegan.

"I think he has been told that by the other players, that both them and myself would like to keep him here, but he's got to be fully, fully committed."

what are people's thoughts on him. Seem to recall a few of us were saying he was pretty good.

good backup winger maybe?

Is Keegan still playing him as left-back? He is wasted there, I wouldn't be surprised if he wants to leave. He probably was the best Newcastle player on the pitch against us this season, even though that's not saying too much considering we comfortably beat them twice.
Could do a good job for a team like Villa or Tottenham, not sure if he is United quality though.

Exciting player with the ball but needs to get his head up more to see what else is on around him. Needs to knuckle down and get back in the team.

I'd be sorry to see him leave SJP.

Liverpool won't sign him because they have Babel. Could see him going to Arsenal or the Spurs. We definitely don't need him. He would be fourth choice behind Ronaldo, Nani, and others.

who else?

ronaldo, nani, park and giggs?

we are going to have to replace giggs within the next two seasons I'd imagine.

Not really. Liverpool quite clearly lack in the "wingers" department, N'Zogbia would be a big addition to the Liverpool squad as would someone like Bentley.

You're way overating him. There's a reason why Newcastle have been playing him at left back.

If Liverpool want to strenghthen what they already have Ashley Young, David Bentley and the likes of Lennon are superior players. The first two in particular would give some of the best delivery in the league, which is where Liverpool's wingers struggle because none of them have have fantastic delivery into the box.

Not going to happen, but I really think he would be an asset.

His current level in my opinion is better than that of Valencia in his time at Wigan. So why could we not develop Insomnia in the same way? Plus I think he potentially has quite a bit more about him too. Certainly not only a direct winger...

I have always thought he is a decent player but he isnt good enough for United, and at this point in his career he never will be.

Still only 24. Would you have had similar reservations over Valencia?

I think he would be a great addition to the squad

Meh, I think he is a bit too ordinary to add to squad, I want a better player considering you only get 25 nowadays. Valencia displayed power pace and a blistering shot at Wigan, N'Zogbia has shown tricky and general good play, but I dont know I dont think he would get much of a sniff at United.

He would improve our squad. But I don't feel he could compete with Nani or Valencia, he would actually be destined to be fourth choice behind Park as well, on top of Obertan and Bebe being rather talented and both will get less playing time if we get him. If we are to sign a winger, I think we need to sign a man whom can challenge Nani and Valencia, whom both are best on the right. Therefor it is logical to sign a strong left winger and that should be the first priority at the moment.

It would improve us, especially short term. But not a good signing.

I dont know how you can say that. N'Zogbia has definitely shown more than Valencia did. However N'Zogbia has also shown he can be quite greedy, which Valencia never has. Being greedy isnt always a bad thing if you have the ability to turn it into productivity, thats the question with N'Zogbia. At a top club could he consistantly make the difference, because he's unlikely to change and become more of a team player like Valencia is.

Could see us going for Bastos to challenge for the left sided berth

N'Zogbia has been brilliant this season - it was almost scary to see how poor Wigan were when he was out suspended. He is more than good enough for us.

Transfer news Wigan winger Charles N'Zogbia is summer target for Liverpool Tottenham Aston Villa Sunderland Newcastle Juventus - News - MirrorFootball.co.uk
Charles N’Zogbia is set to be one of the most in-demand players of the summer – with Liverpool, Tottenham, Aston Villa, Sunderland and former club Newcastle interested in a £7million deal.

The Wigan winger is at the centre of a six-way tussle – Italian giants Juventus are also watching – which will hasten his departure from the DW Stadium.

Newcastle have already tried to lure him back to St James’ Park in January, while he is Sunderland boss Steve Bruce’s No.1 summer target.

Liverpool have joined the chase, in case they cannot manage to land Stewart Downing from Aston Villa.

Ironically, if Villa do lose Downing and Ashley Young, then they will look to the Wigan star themselves.

Newcastle sold N’Zogbia to Wigan for £4m after he fell out with then-manager Joe Kinnear - who called him 'Insomnia' in an interview - yet could end up buying him back for almost double that.

The Magpies have £30m to spend following Andy Carroll’s sale to Liverpool, but are busily scouring the French league for bargains.

He's been fantastic in the second half of the season to be fair. I'm sure Wigan would want more than 7m.

I think he's quality. Big fish in small, pond maybe. Nontheless he's showed a lot of potential.

I was at OT against Wigan this season and even when they were down to 9 men he had bundles of energy and took a number of our players on with ease. Definitely saved Wigan from the drop.

I have always been a fan of N'Zogbia, has a-lot of talent, seems to be his attitude has let him down in the past.

Think he will go on to do well at a bigger club than Wigan.

That sums it up, Young is more of an ordinary player but he'll be a professional, N'Zogbia would probably lose his shit as soon as he was rotated.
It's not even rotating that would do him in because he didnt mind it at Newcastle. He is just a volatile and complex character. Anything could potentially set him off or he could stay happy for ages. He is similar to an RVP in that regard. RVP was just like him before Arsenal got him.
