NRL Grand Final: Sydney Roosters vs St. Chokers Dragons

Very upset with the Roosters making the finals.

Catalyst for them this season has been Todd Carney.

Todd Carney, who made his name with the Canberra Raiders(I'm a Canberra boy), but time and time again, let off-field issues sabotage his time with the Raiders. The Raiders realizing what a talent he was, gave him more than a 2nd chance, but he wasted them all, he has since of course moved on to the Roosters, and look at him now

I think this might just be the year St George finally break their hoodoo. Bennett's influence couldn't quite take them all the way last season, but I think the extra year has given him the time to increase their belief and they'll prove too good against the Roosters.

Surely St.George will win with them being the best team all year, having a fine collection of sure-fire Kangaroos this winter, and Wayne Bennett coaching them?

I'm hoping the Roosters do the unthinkable of going from wooden spoonists to champions in 1 year but I can't see past the Dragons for this one.

How has Gasnier been doing since returning from France? In contention for the Kangaroos?

Watched Titans v Roosters on Friday.

Utter, utter crap from the coast. Mat Rodgers looks like Phil Brown.

I'm hoping the Roosters can get up. Would prove a nice bit of symmetry.

Any Aussies hearing the goss about potential betting scandal and players being banned?

I'm not in Oz atm, but saw a few things saying, the NRL are keeping it quiet for the Grand Final, but once that's done, this thing is going to explode.

This could of course be nothing, just wondering, if anyone else had heard anything....

I've heard that thurston amongst a handful of others could be handed bans, potentially lifetime ones if what has been alleged is true.

Half time. Could go anyway really. Pitch is starting to look like Wembley with clouds advancing.

Much better viewing than the AFL yesterday. that was fooking horrid.

Despite the flattering scoreline for St.George, the Roosters were hard done to by the officials IMO, one or two correct calls in their favour could have seen them pick up the win. Morris's right foot was on the line and his left was about a metre over for their first try, the push on Perrett that wasn't picked up by the ref was a big call aswell because the Dragons scored from the resulting drop out.

Bulldogs players questioned over scandal
October 5, 2010 - 8:09PM

Detectives have reportedly interviewed up to 20 Bulldogs players over a potential betting scandal involving a match between the North Queensland Cowboys and the Canterbury club.

The players spoke with police for up to an hour on Tuesday in relation to the allegations surrounding the round 24 clash in August, the Nine Network reported.

NSW State Crime Command was unavailable to confirm the report but, when asked what had occurred during the police interview, player Bryson Goodwin told the network: "They just asked us a few general questions about it, just doing their job".

"No one's done anything wrong ... so we just let them know we've got nothing to hide."

He also said the rumours had been hard on the team.

"It's lucky that it happened at the end of the year, 'cause it would have been a lot of stress on the team."

A lawyer for Ben Roberts declined to comment, saying he had been instructed by the club not to give media interviews.

Rumours circulated last month alleging four NRL players were involved in a plan for North Queensland to kick a penalty goal as the first scoring play in the match against the Canterbury Bulldogs.

Police are investigating the unusual betting activity stemming from that match, but have said no time limit will be put on any findings.

This is the potential scandal that was kept quiet, until the end of the GF.
