Discussion Your Lineup Prediction

  • Mazraoui has been really good at RCB - he’s a much better option as part of the back 3 over Lindelof. Without a doubt.

And possibly one or two performances aside, he hasn’t been as good as a wingback.
Agree. I like Maz stepping up in his rcb role, even supporting our attack.

He‘s not a winger, so less effective as wingback.

I agree. I think in most back 3s managers like wide cbs who can also play full back so they can help out on that side if needed. That’s why shaw would have been perfect for the LCB role if he was fit.

Yeah he’s done it so well.

Yeah all spot on and Shaw would have been a great fit. Guess vast majority see Maz as similar. Didn’t think I’d find anyone thinking Lindelof is a better option for us.

He’s a far better RCB than a wing back , it’s not even a discussion
Well, I see him as a typical RB. So actually I don't think he fits into Amorim's formation. Because even Lindelöf is a better central defender than Mazraoui.

But between Mazraoui and Lindelöf I hope we can agree that Mazraoui will be the better of the 2 as RWB after all.

Doesn’t matter how you see him. What matters is how those two players fit in with the formation we actually play, and the consensus is that Mazraoui fits in to our formation as a RCB in a three better than Lindelof does. He’s just a better player than Lindelof there. He’s also a better RWB, but we’re better as a team with him at RCB and someone else at RWB.

Will be a great game to see how much we’ve improved. NF have been a great squad this season. 3 pts would be awesome.

And that is how you see it, since you don't have a patent on the truth. So I guess your post does not have much importance either, if we are to follow your logic

Isn't Yoro supposed to be fit for this game. Sure I read he was only out for the Leicester game. Be interesting when heaven is fit to have both of them either side of De Ligt in defence

Except what I’m saying actually fits with the formation we play and Amorim’s team selections, and yours doesn’t. You keep talking about full backs and central defenders when that’s not even the formation we play. And if you haven’t figured out what formation we play, I’m struggling to see how you would have watched us play enough to notice who is performing better in that formation.

Lindelof offers nothing except a body on the pitch. He’s useless.

Anybody who thinks he’s a better option over Maz at RCB clearly hasn’t watched us all season.
Whilst not as good as Maz, Lindelof is far far from useless.

I’m feeling strangely optimistic about this game actually, I think we’ll surprise a few.

Think we should have a few players back from injury too?

Oddly, or maybe not so oddly, I don't think I'd be too disheartened if we lost this game. I'd like Forest to hang on and get into the Champions League, even if it feels a bit like they accelerated their way there by signing a million players and taking the punishment etc. But alas, I think it would still be seen as an underdog story that is good for the league.

However, we're on one of our best runs (even if we went out to Fulham on penalties) in a while. It'd be nice to keep things going, even if I think we're very unlikely to break the top 10. The games against Lyon are more important and while I'd love us to keep the confidence high by getting results. It might be an idea to make a few changes, particularly in the second half of games, to have fresh legs for Lyon.

We play City at home and Newcastle away either side of the first leg against Lyon. I think in particular against Newcastle we could be resting a couple but we can't be allowed to do that against Man City regardless. Ruben can be clever though and perhaps pick some squad players like Lindelof, Collyer, and Eriksen against Newcastle.

This game doesn't fall into that category as we should be picking a full strength side due to it being the first one after the international break and it doesn't fall too close to any other fixture. Forest also have an FA Cup Quarter Final at the weekend while we can have extra training sessions at last. Hope we can win every game of course, but if you offered me 40 Points in the League and us having progressed to the Europa League Semi Final on eve of April 17th - I'd take it.

I think we have most players back now, seemingly Maguire is fit and Yoro might even be back in training. Mount was on the bench last time out and Dorgu's suspension is over.

Let's see who is fresh after the extended break, but I'd be expecting:

    Onana
    De Ligt Maguire Mazraoui
    Dalot Bruno Ugarte Dorgu
    Garnacho Eriksen
    Hojlund

There's a couple other players who might be in contention. It could be Casemiro over Eriksen with Bruno as a no.10, or Zirkzee (probably over Eriksen again). Other than Yoro/Heaven being fit and perhaps Mount finding his way into the team, we're pretty close to what I'd imagine Ruben wants to do until the end of the season. At least while we're most likely without Mainoo, Amad, and Martinez.

Is it weird I feel optimistic? Even about some of these players I thought were probably not going to be good enough for Ruben's style...

I hope we can afford not to play Maguire, we've been much better without him.

    Onana
    Mazraoui De Ligt Yoro
    Dalot Bruno Ugarte Dorgu
    Garnacho Zirkzee
    Hojlund

Chris Wood was injured in the Oceania WC qualifying final, not sure how serious but he might not make the game given he also has to travel back from NZ

In what way? Mazraoui has been pretty faultless at RCB when played there. Lindelof has been quite weak and made a few errors.
