noob alert - questions about the reserves/youth structure

I was reading something and someone commented our reserve team was under threat of being relegated. I was kind of surpised, i thought we had decent young players, but then i realised, i don't actually know much about them, other than Chong because he has big hair.

I know next to nothing about our reserves or youth teams. Where can I learn about them? Do most of you have subscriptions to MUTV or something like that? I want to know more about the purpose of each team, for example i think we have an under 23 team, how does that differ from the reserves? or is reserves a catch all term for our youth teams?
 
Before you ask it has occured to me to read wikipedia and the club website, i'm going to do that, but i was wondering if anyone had some other resources?
 
A long time ago there was no age limit on who played in the reserves. Then it became U21 with a specific number of over-age players allowed. Then it changed to U23 again with a specific number of over-age players allowed.

Below the first team, we have U23 (reserves), then U18, then younger age groups who aren't professionals.
