Could someone in the UK check if the FAYC tie against Chelsea on Wednesday is on the MUTV schedule there?
 
The U16s beat Liverpool 5-3. Hat trick for Louie Bradbury, one each for JJ Gabriel and Douka Nkoto.

Tunde Shoretire returned from nearly a year out with injury today & scored a hat-trick for the U15s in a 5-0 win.

Only seen short clips where he looks similar to his brother, or am I way off? Dribbling ability and neat passing?

Shola was certainly extremely prolific at the same level and was almost considered a dead cert to make it here at one point. Pretty sure he played for the U18’s at 14 years old.

His problem was that he didn’t physically develop and found it tricky as soon as he stepped up to older age groups against physically stronger players. Hopefully he’ll still have a decent career and kick on in Greece

Yeah I’ve watched academy for a while and saw the rise of Shola and remember him breaking through. I think the game you mentioned was a UEFA youth game if I remember correctly. Or he was our youngest player in that competition for sure.

I too thought he had talent but sometimes failed to impose himself on games enough for me. I think he could have out thought more physical opponents. I was more curious about his brothers style of play.

That's just not true. He was always a good player, a good link-up midfielder with good feet. But he didn't have the physique, the speed or anything that sticks out and makes you a "dead cert" and he certainly wasn't "extremely prolific" at all.

Shola was scoring 50 goals a season while playing 1/2 years up when he was around Tunde's age, he was very prolific. As an U15/U16 he was regarded as arguably the best player in the country. Just didn't translate as he went up the age groups.

Only have watched him when he was very young but he looks more pacey and more of a forward than his brother (have watched Shola when he was around the same age too). Shola certainly dominated his age group a lot more at those age but again, some attributes will translate well to senior football and some do not.
 
Our U17 PL Cup semi-final will be against Charlton. Not sure when it's being played but I imagine some time soon as the other semi, Spurs-Derby, is next Wednesday.

I appreciate the response and insight. Yeah from what I saw he seemed to be direct in his dribbling and fairly composed so what u say correlates.
With Shola we could see the talent it was just, as you say translating it up there levels. Still time though.

How good are our Under 16s compared to other clubs in the country? Where would you rank them?

It seems like every other day i read news of them walloping another team 5-0 or 6-2.

As far as I know they are up there with the best in the country, plenty of talented players in those age groups.

But at the same time you don’t hear about the worse results that often. Whenever they win you see the players posting about the goals and assists, but understandably less so when they lose or draw.

Looks like the bench is also going to feature Kone, Harrison, and Heaven (though we have four youth players dropping out from the bench with only 3 returning from missing Spurs in Eriksen, Yoro, Ugarte?)
 
7 players on the starting XI are still U18s-eligible so it's good squad progress direction. It does show though how much improved we are as a team with the likes of Chido or Kamason around.

Hopefully Mantato will be back with the U18s today (and Lacey?).

Murdock is now ahead of Myles in the pecking order? I guess it makes sense to start playing him in the U21s as Byrne-Hughes is too good to be rotten on the U18s bench. We still have Harrison around once the senior GKs getting back from injuries.

About time for Finley to start performing at this level as him and Moorhouse are very much the oldest in midfield now with Gore loaned and Curley gone.
