Right, so my gaming rental package for the ps3 is over and I don't feel like renewing it. My mac is rubbish at running games so I want some suggestions regarding games that don't rely on graphics.

I've got Limbo, the original Dues Ex and Football Manager 2012 right now. The gamer in me needs more. And don't say Angry Birds.

Super Meat Boy
Amnesia (should be OK on a mac)
KOTOR
Bastion
Machinarium
Tales of Monkey Island

I should add that generally I prefer games with some sort of story/strategy.

Then that'll be all of them except Super Meat Boy.

Tbh on a Mac thats 'rubbish at running games' your options are severely limited.

What about some old classics? They're bound to run fine.

Deus Ex is one that I have. It was one of my favorite games growing up.

Any others you'd suggest?

The problem with the old classics is that so few of them have been made available on the mac.

Here's some other slightly more 'classic' suggestions:

Civilisation IV (if you like strategy)
Pscyhonauts - great platforming adventure with a fantastic, hilarious storyline.
Sam & Max - amusing point & click adventure games.
Europa Universalis III (like Civilisation, but with more depth and options)

Of course, if you use 'bootcamp' on your Mac you can also play Windows games which hugely boosts your options.

I use Wmware so all of those should work. Machinarium looks really interesting.

Oh, well that changes everything. I only listed Mac-compatible games.

Here's some windows classics at the top of my head:

The Longest Journey
System Shock 2
Beyond Good & Evil
Jade Empire
S.T.A.L.K.E.R
Thief
Splinter Cell
Hitman: Blood Money
Mafia
Company of Heroes

There's a puzzle game that just came out named Unmechanical, it's fantastic and isn't hard on your machine, try it out, you won't be disapppointed, and you can get it pretty cheap on Steam aswell.

Winner all day long. Though he will struggle to get Stalker/Hitman and Mafia running at playable levels, though it depends how well the machine plays Deus Ex which was a pretty intense system hog.

Have played these. Will go check out what the rest are about.

If you like Deus Ex as much for the gameplay as the setting, you'll like System Shock 2.

For me it's extremely close between the pair of them and they are still both lightyears beyond anything done since, with maybe the exception of S.T.A.L.K.E.R which isn't up to their levels, but is still great.

Steam has a great collection of low graphics indie games

Terraria is one of my favorites

Cave Story is a must play

Company of Heroes is the best ever RTS game amolbhatia100. Worth buying.

Dragons Age is a great game too, recommend that.

Those two will keep you busy for a while :)

My earlier post was a bit misleading. I actually dislike proper strategy game. I actually mean't games that involve some variety in play rather than proper Civilization type strategy games.

I tried Dragon Age on this mac a long time back. It couldn't take it.

So you essentially mean RPGs?

As Redlambs suggested, the first game you should give a go is System Shock 2. It shares many gripping similarities to Deus Ex and has one of the best psychological horror settings I've experienced on any gaming medium. Should run perfectly fine too.

Another game I forgot to mention is Vampire - the masquerade bloodlines. Its a very underrated non-linear RPG in a pretty unique and original setting. Like Deus Ex it gives you several options in how to approach the story and gameplay. It was very buggy at release but with all the patches out now its very playable.

Excellent suggestion again. Maybe my memory is beginning to fail me!

It's worth mentioning with -VTMB and the Stalker series, that mods are your friends. Especially with the former, you can get a much richer experience playing the game how it was meant to be.
