At one stage United look certs for champion league football then blow it. Then Arsenal look certs for champions league football then they blow it too. Then Spurs look good and they get beaten today.
Have we got a chance again? One things look certain, whoever gets there will be lucky.

If we can win against Chelsea Liverpool and arsenal we have a great chance

So yeah we are 3rd favourite

We certainly have a chance, if you look only at the league table, but watch any of our games and you’d be a fool to be confident of us getting it. If we scrape in, then it’ll take a real upturn in form. Every chance we lose our next 3 and that’ll be that.

Ole's interim year wasn't there a run where literally everyone in the race for 4th couldn't win a game to save their lives? Maybe we get a repeat of that, only with Ronaldo somehow dragging this team into it?

No, don't hope, hope is bad..

A repeat of 18/19, Spurs will get it again by default.

We want to avoid it as much as our rivals because that competition is such a pain in the arse with the schedule and everything. We. Are. Scared.

That was such a disgusting and yet hilarious race where nobody wanted the damn thing  I remember going through all the mathematical outcomes that we were still in with a chance in the last two games and I think we lost at home to Cardiff and drew with some other lowly team.

It's the hope that gets you.

I’m at the point where I’m not sure CL football would be a good thing for us. I suspect players will have CL money in their contracts, so knowing those work shy wankers are going to get less cash next season would be the only good thing to come out of this season.

This is why I said in the thread about the PL gap grown on other leagues that it’s only City and Liverpool.

Us, Arsenal and Spurs are average at best. The fact Arsenal lost their first 3 league games this season and last 3 league games yet are still in with a good chance of 4th. Then throw in us having a mare of a season and Spurs being Spurs.

Is it bad that I don't really care?

The money is good for the club and ownership. But we have about as much chance of actually winning it atm as Hull do, so I struggle to get particularly excited

Unfortunately, as far as I know anyway, the wage cut would apply to the following season. Given how many players have either decided to leave already or have simply given up, we probably should have backdated it somehow.

No chance as got the hardest run-ins

Is this not a common theme every season with 4th spot going way back to lvg's last year in charge

Yes it is the same every year. If the teams in 4,5,6th were consistent they'd be up closer to the title challengers

If we can finish 5th and Liverpool/City win the CL won't we automatically qualify off the back of that anyway?

Ah nop, but if you are 5th and win EL you qualify

Also

"Should a Premier League club win the UEFA Champions League they will automatically qualify for the group stage of next season's competition regardless of their league finishing position."

Our next three fixtures are Liverpool (a), Arsenal (a) and Chelsea (h) all in the space of 9 days. I would be very surprised if we get much more than 3 points from those games.

Just as long as the 3 points is against Arsenal, then we will still likely be in the running for CL football afterwards.

Yea I couldn't remember. Ah well, Europa League it is next year then.

Yeah no way are we even left with a 5% chance of top 4 after these games
