Just watching MUTV and the General Manager has said they did look into expanding the South Stand but it would cost £45m to add another 10,000 seats and was considered uneconomic, and with us on the TV so much and some games needing to be put on General Sale to fill the ground, they've decided against it. So that ends that discussion!

The south stand should be left alone and the corners should be filled in instead. That's all that's missing IMO.

Aethetically and perhaps acoustically it would be good if the corners were filled in, but I doubt economically that would work out.

They will do it in the end, you cant stand still forever. What it means is that they've shed out a right load on three players in the last two seasons and thus caanot afford it right now, and they have a problem with Trafford Council on the matter anyway.

Sounds like its off the agenda for some time anyway. He didn't say though that they're not planning to build a new 100,000 seater stadium. ;)

10,000 seats would bring in about 4/5m a year in extra income. It would take ten years to break even.

On the other hand, it's the one-and-a-half Rio Ferdinands and 10,000 more happy match day fans.

can you do a run down of the stiffs match tommorow mate?

I never expected it to be done for a good few years anyway.

it´s not like the football money wheel will spin forever ...

I'll be doing full match commentary if anyone's around - looking forward to seeing Keano return! A few lads on here are going to the game too - remember its free for members. Shit, they've just said its now played at Old Trafford tomorrow, not Altrincham due to the state of the pitch.

They'll do it, coz i can recall them saying they won't extend united road.. (north stand)

Old Trafford is one ugly stadium, when/if they do the mirror image of the North Stand on the opposite side, it'll look spot on...

Plus, has anyone noticed, that roof in the corner areas, aren't finished?

shabby stuff.

PS Siddy's new ground is looking top, they've taken the track out...and are completing the open end... fecks all over OT in terms of aethetics.

Its not just a case of economics, Trafford borough council won't let United increase the capacity without sorting out better public transport etc. Any real expansion would mean re-routing the railway

thats the only problem.

i've heard that the plans are in place..

but the problem is that TC wants United to sort out the transport infrastructure..... lets face it, its congested enough with 67,000 fans....

The uneconomical argument is toss.

Think of the United fans who would kill for a season ticket. Besides given that Kenyon has been talking about needing not to concentrate on telly moolah. They are just lazy feckers.

Can they not build a tunnel?

reading all this would make you think trafford council are more important than manchester united.
