IMHO
Some of our squad players are not good enough to play for us even if they are United through and through.Phil Neville,Quinten Fortune, to name but two.(Although they always give 100%)
I also have reservations about F/B and G/N
We must not let loyalty blind our judgement

i disagree Pit! we have no real say in who the club buys or sells anyway so if our opinion makes no difference, i say get behind a player the minute he puts that shirt on, no matter what! it certainly couldn't hurt their settling in progress!

I agree with getting behind all players who wear the shirt always have and always will.
But you still can not help noticing flaws.
It's a concern more than a critisism if you want to be the best then you have to have the best players in this day and age
Fact of footballing life I'm afraid

I think you don't need to worry about them. They are just squad members used in case of emergency. I'm sure Fergie also know about that. If we sell them we need to buy other squad player back anyway.

I'd rather see a player who's loyal to the club and will give 100% everytime - Nicky Butt is a great example of this at the moment :)

Nicky Butt has had his best season ever,
As for squad players I agree SAF does know that, that's all they are,he must also have noticed that when the likes of Giggs and Beckham have been injured the squad has not been strong enough to cope indeed we have never had cover for Giggs and for a player who has such problems with his hamstring,I feel this needs to be addressed.
Duff is an obvious answer as he is versatile and would add depth to the squad.

I think Diego would be excellent cover for Giggs.

I don't think so. He may get some improvement and offer us another option up front, but we need a geniue winger to cover Giggs. If Chadwick can have some big improvement he can be one choice.

Maybe I have missed something, but I was under a very strong impression that players such as Phil Nev, Gary Nev, Fabian and Quinton are definitely NOT surplus type players who are there just to make up the numbers in the squad!

When Gary and Phil Neville play in the team at the same time I reckon the defence is better. Both of them are class players who are also versatile and can attack when needed. Eric Harrison no less (but maybe some posters here have not heard of this remarkable man and I am not going to explain!) has called Phil a `Rolls Royce` of a player. Enough said.

Fab has slipped up this season but what goalkeeper is always perfect? It is the most stressful position in the team as everything is riding on the last defensive person and even if a team`s problems occur upfield and the goalkeeper is the unfortunate left coping with goal shots that never should have been, most people will cane the goalkeeper for letting a goal in.

Quinton would demonstrate his class at another club. His opportunities are limited so it is not easy to show what he is made of on a consistent basis. If he were to go to another Premiership team, we would know what we were missing.

And don`t forget that other players at other Premiership clubs have greater opportunities to develop a playing rhythm with their team mates and show their ability.

Why? Because while all Premiership teams rotate their squad to greater or less extents, Manchester United has a strong squad and tends to do it more than all the other teams, even Arsenal. It may keep some players fresh but it does not help the development of others.
