No full membership for women !!

Yeah I heard this story yest Kink. Why the feck wont they let them in as full members, it doesnt make any sense in todays world, as most Golf Clubs are very welcoming for both sexes!

I was listening to Newstalk yest when the story broke & they had a couple of respected women on, giving it the big one that it was a disgrace & I had to agree with them.

One point they made was that if you substituted the word "woman" and replaced it with say "Polish", the courts would have no option but to order Portmarnock Golf Club to open its full membership on the grounds of them being discriminating & racist. Thats a fair point in the context of it all!

Then someone text in & said, "why the outcry - sure there's woman's-only fitness studio's up & down the Country that men are forbidden to use, why is that not an issue & this is.."

Another good fecking point - again in the context of it all!

This is just one of many fitness studio's that only allow women in County Dublin, and there are 21 studio's of the same company alone in Dublin:

Curves - Locations - Co. Dublin

There are 25 other Counties in Southern Ireland that forbid men to work out in the "Curves" fitness studios & there are many others such as "Perfect Shape" that forbid men also!

Whilst I dont agree with Portmarnock not giving full membership, its also not on to deny men the right to use a fitness studio based purely on gender. Its fecking hypocritcal to say the least, regardless if women say they feel alot more comfortable working out in the surroundings of women-only!

Maybe men feel alot more comfortable being in a male orientated club such as a Golf Club, for them to take some time away from the female of the species & lets face it - we all need a break from women, just as much as women need a break from men!

Damn you Kink - you got me on a fecking rant there mate

If there are women only places, then there should be men only places. Unless sexual equality is only meant to work one way, eh ladies?

Wish they did this at the club I used to play at!

Before I headed for London I was in sales for a pretty big Irish gym chain. They had a women only gym within the main gym. It wasn't exactly a huge room but was about 4 times the size of a standard living room.

As a result one of the male members took the gym to court a few years back over being sexist. Not sure if he won or not, but we were clearly instructed not to say 'Ladies Gym' to potential new members.

Point is, it was still largely considered the "ladies area."

The other side of the coin is that some women felt like they're being glared at by male members and preferred the female section, and then you had women of the Muslim faith who were quite adamant about not looking a certain way around men.

So all in all I don't think anyone (bar the cnut who tried to sue) had a problem with the ladies area

Not sure where I'm going with this. I'm drunk

I agree with R_Nick on this one

So what you're trying to say Kink, is that women should have to work out in the nude & suck every male off after their workouts?

Sounds great to me. Now where did I put my spandex pants
