I know this is a bit random since it is not prompted by any newspaper articles or anything. Just wanted to say that he looks a good prospect. Is he better than our own reserve team/ youth team strikers? If so, we should consider signing him up. I have a feeling he is a star in the making.

He's a bit of a handful for defender but at the minute his finishing is atrocious, which is not a particularly good quality for a striker. Has he actually scored yet for the first team?

Edit: just checked. 2 in 25 in the championship. 0 in 24 in premiership. A lot of those probably sub appearances but that's still a bit shit

Em, Nile Ranger? Righteo.

No he doesn't look better than our reserve strikers, both Welbeck and Diouf scored more than him this season. Can't say that I have seen too much potential either, he has made little or no impact in his numerous substitute appearences this season - and I have seen him miss quite a-few sitters.

For a 20 year old he really hasn't shown much promise and just look at some of the players ahead of him in the pecking order, Lovendkrands and Ameobi :nervous: Says it all really.

I thought he looked very good whenever I saw him play against our reserve side, always a handful.

Haven't seen the required progression in his game since step up to the first team though. Might be a late bloomer, but I wouldn't be looking at making a move for him any time soon.

He is one of the greediest players I've seen in a long time. Lovenkrands must hate playing with him coz he never passes to him.

Going on the articles I've read about him over the years, he has an attitude problem. He's been in and out of trouble, and was even pictured holding a gun recently, which he denied and said was a toy replica.

He looks a decent player though, he needs to pass more.

He really isn't good enough and won't make it at Newcastle in the Premier League. He's got plenty of power and pace but that's it.

Plus he's a bit of an idiot.

I don't know which player you've been watching mate!

He just feels dangerous (maybe its the gun), but with better finishing (under Owen's guidance perhaps) he could be the next big thing.

I don't think he's better (potential wise) than our young strikers (Welbeck, Macheda, King, Keane & Cofie - all look promising). Think Ranger may well become a decent Premier League striker, but not seen anything more than that in him personally

Like I said, I don't know which player you've been watching mate!

I'm not sure he'll develop to be much better than Ameobi, and he's probably already a worse player than Welbeck.

He's always looked a threat when I've seen him play this season, agreed about his woeful finishing though

Definitely a worse player than Welbeck, miles behind him.

Gangly, pacy, quite skilful but selfish, weak and inconsistent. He'll end up as a Championship player.

In his defense... he's got the coolest name in the league.

The only reason to buy Niles Texas Ranger would be for his gun connect.

What a random thread. I cannot imagine any PL clubs are even considering him

Apparently he made more appearances than any other as a sub.

This is why I missed Newcastle in the premiership, always good value.

This is exactly why twitter has become such a clusterfeck for clubs. As nice as it is to see what De Gea, Owen, Rio are up to, I'm just worried what will happen if we have a Rooney-esque issue like last year.

Newcastle player Nile Ranger arrested over assault

Premier League footballer Nile Ranger has been arrested after a man was left unconscious with a suspected broken jaw in an attack.

The 33-year-old victim was found outside Cosy Joes Pub, in the Groat Market in Newcastle, after police were called in the early hours.

Mr Ranger, 20, was later arrested on suspicion of assault.

Newcastle United refused to comment, but a source confirmed the striker had been arrested.

A Northumbria Police spokesman said: "The injured man was unconscious and was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary suffering from a suspected broken jaw.

"The offender made off and police carried out a search of the area.

"A 20-year-old man was arrested a short time later, nearby, on suspicion of assault and is currently helping police with their enquiries.

"Police are appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time who may have seen or heard anything suspicious to contact them."

Mr Ranger, from London, moved to Newcastle in July 2008 following his release by Southampton.
