Hat's off to United
Manchester United are lining up a £7million swoop for Real Sociedad's Turkish striker Nihat Kavheci. Sir Alex Ferguson's brother Martin, United's European scout, flew out to Spain to watch Nihat grab his 14th goal of the season in last weekend's victory over Racing Santander. The 23-year-old Nihat, a member of Turkey's World Cup squad and likely to line up against England at the Stadium of Light next month, has been the surprise package of the Spanish season. Powerfully built and with an eye for goal, his pairing with former Sheffield Wednesday striker Dejan Kovacevic has propelled Sociedad to an almost certain Champions League spot for next season.

I think we should buy Nihat. Ive been following him all season in the spanish league and he has been phenomenal.
He has got great technique and a great poweful shot. He is incredibly fast....Ive seen him outrun many defenders easily even with the ball at his feet.

He is the same age as Aimar and is IMO at least as good. He is like a striker version of Roberto Carlos.

Check out the goal he scored in a champions league qualifier a few years back:

http://www.bjk.com/cgi-bin/give_file/2000-01/LMoskova_Besiktas_08232000_3.mpg

Ive checked his stats out on OPTA and if you compare him to Van Nistelroy his stats are impressive. I think they would be great together in attack.
I know the stats might not say too much.

Nihat:

Goals: 14
Minutes per goals scored: 135

Goals inside box: 8
Goals outside box: 6

Goal assists: 4
Key passes: 22

Nistelroy:
Goals: 12
Minutes per goals scored: 182

Goals inside box: 12

Goal assists: 2
Key passes: 17

Ok here are a few of his goals. I couldn't find all of his goals from the spanish league. (Right click save as)

Awsome free kick goal from this weekend:

This is the goal from my previous post where he shows great pace:

This one is a shot from 25 meters into the top corner:

I don't think you can compare him to Ronaldinho since they are very different types of players. I also think Ronaldinho is more of a midfielder.
Ronaldinho have got better technique but Nihat is faster and has a better shot.
You could easily have both players in your team. :)

Check out the goals and tell me what you think. :)

Those two goals show great acceleration and Pace. Really something we need i think, imagine him on the end on one of Verons long balls (no homosexual jokes please), Veron will be laughing if he had someone pacey to get on the end of his passes.
A good investment, im still swaying towards ronaldinho but im not sure if he'll A) Be Juventus Bound B) Cost TOO much, C) Fit in right, attitude wise.

Whats this lad Nihat like attitude wise then, he isnt a light night clubber and a rebel or anything is he?

I don't know Nihats personality but Ive never heard stories about his nightlife, and he has only played in two clubs in his carrer.
Maybe someone else in the forum have more info on him?

FOOTBALL; FERGIE'S £7M TURK TARGET

United chase hitman Kavheci

MANCHESTER UNITED are preparing to make a £7million swoop for Real Sociedad's Turkish striker Nihat Kavheci.

Manager Sir Alex Ferguson's brother Martin, United's European scout, flew out to Spain to watch Nihat grab his 14th goal of the season in a win over Racing Santander at the weekend.

Turkish World Cup squad man Nihat, who is likely to line up against England at the Stadium of Light next month, has been the surprise package of the Spanish season.

Powerfully built and with an eye for goal, the 23-year-old's pairing with ex- Sheffield Wednesday ace Dejan Kovacevic has propelled Sociedad to an almost certain Champions League slot next season. They are currently second in the table, a point behind Real Madrid.

Only Deportivo La Coruna's Dutch striker Roy Makaay has scored more La Liga goals than Nihat this term.

United, also close to signing Belgian defender Daniel van Buyten from Marseilles, need to find a foil for Ruud van Nistelrooy to add to their attacking armoury.

Nihat's performances this season suggest he fits the bill, although last night the striker refused to add to the speculation.

He said: "I have a contract that means I am here until 2006 and that is the only thing on my mind.

"I am happy to stay at Sociedad and only want to think about our chances of winning La Liga. We know we can do that.

"As far as rumours of a possible transfer to England are concerned, I know absolutely nothing."

But Sociedad are far from wealthy and would be almost certain to accept a significant offer.

Fergie's interest in van Buyten was confirmed by the 25-year-old centre- half, who said: "United have already spoken to Marseilles.

"They don't want me to leave but the financial offer from United is irresistible. For my career it would be a big move. I like Marseilles but if I stay here I only have to play at 70 per cent of my capacity."

Meanwhile, Real Madrid's Brazilian World Cup winner Roberto Carlos wants to meet United in the quarter-finals of the Champions League. He said: "United would be the best draw we could get."

According to Planetfootball Man Utd have already made a bid for him, and Real Sociedad is willing to sell.

Fergie bids £7m for Turkey star Nihat
Sir Alex Ferguson has got the green light to sign Turkish sensation Nihat Kahveci. Manchester United boss Ferguson has set his sights on a striker who has 14 goals for Spain’s Real Sociedad this season. He sent his brother and European scout Martin to watch the World Cup star score in the 2-1 win at Racing Santander last week. United have tabled an offer of about £7million for 23-year-old Nihat, with Sociedad saying they are keen to sell.
