Platinum Dunes finally revealed the first picture of Jackie Earle Haley as Freddy Krueger and the official A Nightmare on Elm Street one sheet at this year’s San Diego Comic Con. Check them out below and let us know your thoughts.

Samuel Bayer’s remake of Wes Craven’s 1984 classic hits theaters on April 16, 2010. The film stars Rooney Mara as Nancy Thompson, Kyle Gallner, Thomas Dekker, Kellan Lutz, and Katie Cassidy.

The original was a great film. The series got progressively worse.
Hopefully this lives upto the first one. I could sleep on my back for a about a year after seeing the part were Johnny Depp got dragged through the bed haha.

ffs hollywood is so over. everything is a remake these days. I predict this one will be crap, just like all the others.

I love the original movie, no question the best in the series. It still gives me the jeebies to this day.

Though, I would have loved to seen Robert Knepper play the part of Freddy. I think he would have been fabulous in the role.

I used to think the original was a great movie, too....until I watched it again recently. It is terrible.

I bought the same boxset quite recently, as I remembered really liking the movies when I was younger. They have not aged well, in my opinion.

They fall neatly into the "so bad, it's hilarious" category, for me. Much like The 'Friday the 13th' series. Which disappointed me, somewhat, as I remembered the first 'Nightmare...' movie as being genuinely good. Perhaps it is simply a case of me getting older.

With regard to the remake, I am not hopeful. The 'Halloween' remake sucked. The 'Friday the 13th' remake sucked. I am fairly certain this will also suck.

The first Nightmare..film is genuinely scary, even still to this day for me at least. The more the movies go on, the more they fall into ridiculous. Though I did like New Nightmare, that was extremely creepy.

The Halloween remake was decent, I haven't seen the Friday 13th remake yet. Two remakes I did like was Texas Chainsaw Massacre and The Hills Have Eyes.

A lot of people shit on the 'TTCM' remake, but I quite liked it. I have yet to see the remake of 'The Hills Have Eyes." I have the original on dvd, though.

The remake of 'Halloween', I absolutely HATED. I love the original, but the last person on earth I wanted to direct the remake was Blob Zombie. 'House of 1000 Corpses' might be the worst movie I have ever seen.

This from a guy who actively sought out 'Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus.'

I also liked the When A Stranger Calls remake, very creepy.

I saw that one on a plane. Not bad.

They should remake 'The Burning.' In fact, they probably already are. I know that a remake of 'The House on Sorority Row' is in the pipeline. If they will remake that crock, they will remake anything.

The very last1 was scary as feck. There is a scene where the little boy Billy runs away from the hospital and is about to cross a highway and the camera pans up and in the distance is a whole army of freddies. I dont know how old i was when I saw that but it has stuck with me

I'm glad they seem to have kept the scene with the girl walking around the school in the bodybag. That freaked me out when I was a kid.

Shouldn't feck with a classic, it'd be like making Back to the Future with that twat from High School Musical as Marty or something...

Yep, the original "Nightmare on Elm Street" is a really good horror movie, it doesent need re-making, why don't the lazy bastards make remakes of films that originally bombed ? At least it would be challenging.

I'd rather like to see Basic Instinct remade with Scarlett Johansson playing Sharon Stone's old role so we can see her getting shagged all over, and Jessica Alba play the role of the psychiatrist so we can see her get one up the biff over the couch...
Perhaps not from Michael Douglas though this time, perhaps from me.
