After watching tonights game against Chelsea I dont know how Fergie justifies starting Butt and leaving Veron on the bench. Nicky Butt was disgraceful today and did nothing but turn over the ball again and again. Butt should only play when Keano is injured because he is a holding midfielder. His passing is absolutely atrocious. Veron on the other hand is a superb passer of the ball and has a lethal shot as well as delivering superb corners and free kicks. He offers so much more than Butt ever could. I'll be the first to admit Veron has not justified his 28 mil price tag but that could be very motivation he needs to raise his game. Either we should cash in on him(I hope to God we dont) or we should play him more. Even against WBA he had a very good game and yet was taken off. This is a worrying sign as Veron is too good a player to leave out. Im not trying to run down Nicky Butt but I think he and Keano should not play together as they are similar players and Keane is the king. So if any of you Butt fans dont like what I've written your entitled to your opinion but he isn't as good as Veron as well as Scholes,Becks,Giggs, and Keane.

Like I said, it's going to be interesting to watch these two battle it out this season, and Scholesy.

All three players offer Fergie and the team something different. And I expect he will keep rotating them for now.

I wouldn't have said Butt was 'disgraceful' tonight though. Yes he was quiet, but when he is with Keane, the midfield looks a lot more solid in the middle.

Veron offers class, skill and that attacking flair, in theory ;) I am expecting big things from Seba this season...

It all depends on the opposition and the position the team is in as to who should play IMO, all three are valuable squad members.

Now that its unlikely we will be signing any Strikers before the transfer dealine, I think Scholes will join the Strikers field to make up a quartet with Butt and Veron battling it out to play with Keane. If we need more cover in midfield or we arent doing well by Christmas, Scholes can go back to playing in Midfield and we will pursue more Striker options imo.

I think that's likely Gazza. The market is pretty dead at the minute, and looking at the names we've been supposidly interested in over the past few weeks, only a couple stand-out as players I'd like to see at OT.

Don't forget we've also got players like Michael Stewart comming through.

It's certainly not one of the best performance of Butt. But he is a completely different midfielder than Veron. Of course if we talked about passing and skill Veron is definitely better, but Butt can offer the tackling and physical aspect which Veron can't.

Butt vs. Veron? IMO we should either pair up Keane and Scholes or Butt and Veron. Seem to be the best partnerships to form and rotate.
