Writing seems to be on the wall with Erik ten Hag looking like a dead man walking. We do not know when INEOS will proceed with their changes, and how they will proceed with their changes. But, suppose, they are in for an interim and not a full-time manager in mid-season. Who do we want? Options are spread thin:

1. Ruud van Nistelrooy: Doesn't have a lot of experience, one full season as coach of PSV. Has been an assistant manager to ETH this season.

2. Ole Gunnar Solksjaer: A lot of revisionism around his name recently, wanted a separate thread to discuss his potential instead of old one. Had a good run as interim last time around, tailed off badly near the end. Full-time managerial career not much to write about. Hasn't been in a job since he was sacked here, but is willing to come back. Major cons would be: We know his ceiling, fanbase is very emotional so going to be hard to move him on as interim/not appoint as permanent if things go well. Already some arguments about how Ole never had a proper support/structure back when he was in-charge, and he would do wonders with INEOS now.

3. Struggling to think who else? Some names would be welcome.

Ruud. It was obvious from the moment we appointed him to the staff this summer.

He is the backup plan in case something like this happens.

Are we the only club who are obliged to use interim managers? Can't we just get a real one?

It has to be Ruud. I jus hope he doesn’t get it permanently because we’d be the laughing stock of football if he did

It will be Ruud and that was probably the plan all along. I don't think he expected to get the job this quickly though.

This. I'd hope we'd have a contingency shortlist of managers to go after straightaway.

Why do we need an interim? Would Real Madrid, Bayern or City accept an interim?

Just go and get the best manager we can obtain. Stopped accepting mediocrity.

Ruud would have been okay if we had a few games of the season left, but right now we are only a few games in. We need a proper manager to get something out of the season. I don't know who that is, but that's what good "Football structures" are for. So, let's see what INEOS can come up with.

Has to be Ruud. The feel good factor of Ole's early days will be back.

Not interim, but a caretaker until a new manager is sorted out. Give it to Ruud until we figure out who is next person to take us forward. And it should not be Ole, did we forget Ole also managed some disastrous results for us? 5-0 against Liverpool and 4-1 against Watford come to mind.

Like others have said Ruud seemed to be a incase of emergency break glass kind of appointment. But I’m slightly concerned about how complicit he has been in this campaign so far.

Even if it's not Ole, it definitely shouldn't be Ruud.

He's got zero experience and it's way too big a risk with our current situation. The job is too big for him even on an interim basis.

I think Ole would do great on an Interim basis and it'd be fantastic to see him leave on better terms this time. Wouldn't mind keeping Ruud on and seeing the likes of Butt/Keano in as assistants also. Butt would be pretty controversial so maybe leave him out although I think he'd do a good job.

Potter as permanent appointment. If they don’t want, let Ole in as interim.

Let Ruud manage the next few games until the next international break and appoint a new manager then. INEOS could’ve avoided this whole mess but better late than never.

Keep ten Hag, place RVN, give Ole another chance, bring back Fergie. Won't matter club is rotten, recruitment is shit, standards are shit, no manager will change that. INEOS took our chance to recover from this whole by allowing the Glazers to stay. That Radcliffe rat fecked us over.

The players will just give up and act the cnuts under Ole if he came back. It would be a really silly move. Same for the likes of RVN. They did it under Ralf.

No obvious stand out candidate.

The season is already over for us. Top 4 is gone. We aren't good enough to win Europa.

I'd even have Brendan Rodgers at this rate. Just get rid of this chancer.
He's extremely hated on here but I've always rated Rodgers highly.

I'd take him on a permanent basis tomorrow but no chance he'd leave Celtic mid season again after what happened last time. He did a brilliant job for the most part at Leicester also, especially considering he was pretty much on relegation level transfer budget for his duration in charge there.
