Figo or Rivaldo for possibly Veron.

SAF still wants Rivaldo, and seeing as he has about 3 more good years left, why not do the business. Still the best player on the planet IMO.

Midfield:
Becks Rivaldo Keane Giggs

At the back we desparately need a right back. Mickey S is doing a great job on the left so we need someone solid on the other side...possibly Reiziger, but not sure if he is a lefty or righty??? Also at the center back position we have to go for Hoffland. Solid and skillful. If we can get Blancy to stay on another year - we can then rotate Blanc with G Nev or Wes.

Defense:
Reiziger Hoffland Blanc/G Nev Silvestre

Upfront we still have plenty of options. But we do need to buy another complimentary player to RVN. Sell Yorke and go for that toss-pot Kluivert. Killer forward line.

RVN Kluivert

Team:

Bartez
Reiziger Hoffland Blanc/G Nev Silvestre
Becks Rivaldo Keane Giggs
RVN Kluivert

Subs:
Blanc/G Nev
Ole
Forlan
Scholes
Butt

Leave Veron alone. He is world-class. Let him have a chance to settle will ya?

Rivaldo's like 30 yrs old? And if you ask any Barca fan, despite being at the club for so long, still tends to blow hot and cold too often. So what's he got that Veron doesn't?

You asshole prick!!

Your a dumb scum that can't see further than his nose. What has Rivaldo got that Veron hasn't? Hmmm let's see. 2 European player of the year awards...1 world player (or is it 2??) player of the year awards, a world cup winning medal...shall I go on??? Plus were you watching recently - donkey-dick - when he single handedly beat Liverpool in the Champion's League at Anfield?? Oh I guess not, you must have been asleep during that game or jerking off to images of Veron ever being a decent player for United!!!

R U a Lazio fan in disguise trying to hype Veron up???

Whilst I don't think that Veron should leave if Fergie is to ditch one of our midfield five (Veron, Giggs, Keane, Beckham & Scholes) then he should look at Rivaldo as a replacement. he is a quality player who would be a class above the rest in the Premiership when on form. he can also play as a striker and will score more than any of our other midfielders.

But, this summer we shouldn't be focusing on strengthening the midfield but the defence. We need to bring a world class defender which we have been lacking since the sale of Stam. In addition we should bring in someone younger to play defence as well. With Blanc and Irwin plus possibly Johnsen leaving we will be a bit short at the back. Living down South I sometimes get to see Reading play. Young Nicky Shorey who plays left back looks a terrific prospect.

You should rename this thread 'day dreaming'. Yes Rivaldo is class, yes he would be a great addition to every side. But he's 30 and expensive, a combination that will never get him to United.

How about moving to more realistic ideas? Not Reigizer ofcource, he's no better than what we've already got.

As for Kluivert, I don't think he's such a great partner to RVN. Anyway, he signed a new contract last summer, doesn't sound like someone who wants to go.

do u think rivaldo will settle in, veron hasn't...

what will u think if Rivaldo takes the spotlight away from you true love becks???

Well I can't see us buying much in the summer, if Beckham goes then I can see Fergie pursuing Vieira again and with Irwin going and Phils form at RB he might get a left back in, maybe Lizarau at the right price.
Also maybe another striker to replace Yorke but I can't see him spending big all over again, anyway thats just my opinion

heads in the clouds as usual I see...somethings never change...Rivaldo/Kluivert <img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laugh Out Loud]" />

Vieria is off to Madrid. There is no way he will be at OT.

<img src="graemlins/houllier.gif" border="0" alt="[Houllier]" />

my tip for the player most likely to join United in the summer is...drum role pleeeeeez.......... Marcel Desailly.

unless Fergie thinks he needs another year at Chelsea to fully mature

;)

I say get rid of Blanc and maybe GN...buy Mexes and Hofland...Philip Neville on the right with Brown back up for CBs and RB.

I dont think there is a need to tamper with the midfield...maybe get rid of fortune and get a more pacy LW...maybe get Van bommel so he can replace Keano in two years...get rid of butt in that case

Blanc is old...he cna't possibly last another season...we'd be much better of with two young CB and Brown and O'shea as back up.

The only reason I feel utd. should get rid of Butt is to make way for van Bommel who I see as the best replacement for Keane IN THE LONG RUN. Buying mvb now would give even less first team chances to Butt....but in the long run I feel he would be good....unless you see someone else as a good (well as good as possible - no one can be the perfect replacement for Keane)good replacement for Keane...Ballack of Leverkusen doesn't seem so bad and Carrick and Dunn as well.

Continuity is the key. The less changes we make to our midfield, the better our chances of continuing our winning run. I think the Arse will end up with Van Bommel (despite his claim that he'd like to play at United). I can't see us making any moves in the midfield unless something out of the ordinary happens with Seba's situation, in which case I would like to see us get David Dunn. He's young, damn good, and English. A '4th striker' will probably be lower on the priority list. If we do go after another striker, I think it will be a young player in the 4-5 mil range - possibly Dean Ashton or Jermaine Dafoe (more expensive). As for defenders, any two of Hofland, Ayala, Mexes, or Chivu will do just fine.

gary, phil and nicky are reds4life.. they live and breathe the club, how many players can we find that'll have same affection for Unied?

besides, gary neville has been great at CB.. what does he have to do to impress people?

plus Butt has proved his importance..when the chips were down he came out fighting..

If van Bommel can play LW as a beckup for Giggs, then we'll probably get him (I think he's the player who scored against England besides RVN when they won 2:0)
My bet is that Hofland and Mexes will come as defenders and may be Chivu to give little competition to Silvestre on the left. Chivu can also play as CB or probably RB

Chivu looks more a CB than a LB.

Has anyone really watche Jan Venigoor of Hesslink play....RVN's replacement at PSV- he's supposed to be quite good, even RVN said so- he's scored 18 goals this season and is the second highest scorer i think....do those of you who have seen him think he may be a good addition for utd?

He's nothing special from what I've seen, vennegoor of hesselink that is.

He is pretty good but I doubt he is a better prospect than Diego. He plays on a very strong PSV side in an SPL type league. I'd compare him to Sutton or Flo; they look better than they actually are due to weaker opposition. So no, I don't think he'd be a good aquisition.

How about Bobby Zamora.

Hes doing the business allright - but the standard is a lot better in the PL -as Omerod found out!!

I can see him going to somewhere like Wolves - try himout before/if he makes it big in the PL

I would like to see United maybe look at Hugo Viana of Sporting as a long-term replacement to Keane. Keane is 30, but he will be good for a while, thats for sure. Furthermore, Hugo is just 18. Give him a couple of more years to develop in Portugal, develop a litte more physically, get some European experience, and then go in for him. He may, although I doubt, even make the Portugal squad for the WC (if he doesn't, it will have more to do with age rather than talent). Maybe sign him now and let Sporting keep him for a couple of years. I think it would be a good idea, for he is pure class, that is for sure.

I Think its unfair to say that we should try and get rid of Veron to make way for another high profile world star eg. Rivaldo. Veron is undoubtably very skillfull and an excelent player but its true that he has struggled to adapt to the team and the PL - i hope this will change but it could be a possiblility that he will never be able to adapt. Anyway - who's to say that Rivaldo or sombodyelse wouldn't have the same problems with the English game ?????????????? there are big differnces in the european leagues, maybe change overs of big stars is not practical ????????

The problem that Veron has got is, Beckham, he sems to be playing second fiddle, given a run instead of Becks may bring out the best in him, Becks still has not signed and may be taking too much of a gamble, he could go.
We need a good left sided midfielder, but who, we should sign Hofland/Ayala, maybe both, O'Shea could be left to develope to replace Ayala later, and give Wes Brown the right back slot.

Tudor might not be soo bad instead of Ayal, plus he is younger
