Gavin and Stacey - liking it

Star Stories - The Beckhams one was fecking class

Skins season 1 is very good. Forget about season 2.

Not that i expect any Americans to understand humor.

They subtitle Skins on BBC America... it's very annoying

Not the BBC's fault the Americans need subtitles. Agree with Biscuit that Skins season 1 was quite good, 2 was a bit of a let down.

Gavin and Stacey is top quality while Star Stories has its moments.

Why the feck do you need subtitle's? Are you all really that retarded that you can't understand spoken English?

My friend plays the muslim boy (Anwar?) on skins, He didnt even go drama school! He just decided to randomly audition!

feck off. Some english accents are a bit difficult to understand if you don't regularly hear them.

and equally some American accents are a bit difficult to understand if you don't regularly hear them, but I have never seen an American program broadcast in Britain with subtitles. Especially Skins, a show set in London, with middle class, well spoken youths. Its not fecking leeds accents we're talking about here.

fecking ridiculous. And Americans wonder why they are the butt of so many jokes.

Its amazing how many Americans just shutdown when faced with a strange accent. When we first moved here it was very frustrating at times, even if we talked really slow many still had problems understanding.

We have friends from New Zealand and Australia and we have had this conversation many times. Most English speaking people can understand anyone speaking English. Sure you have to listen and concentrate but the vast majority of people are easy to understand. Americans just don't adapt to the unexpected very well IMO.
