Just added this to the site, might interest some people what with the Di Canio deal falling through thanks in no small part to Yorkie! Although Nick, the author, thinks the united board must take a large chunk of the blame as well...

Yeah tell me abt it. A certain Merseyside club even has 5 strikers on its paychecks supposedly vying for the 1st team , of cos some of their credentials are eerr

Biggest club in the country, and this is the PLC's meagre stand on the PDC saga. Sad day it is...

The United Board / the PLC are indeed in part responsible for the failure to sign DiCanio. However this is the second time that United tried to get rid of Yorke and his own greed has also played a major role.

He had to get much bigger wages from whatever club he went to, as his win bonus at any other club, will not be the same as he now gets at United.

So Middlesbrough now and West Ham this summer refused his demands.

Have you lot seen this thread? : <a href="http://forum.redcafe.net/forum/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic&f=4&t=000182" target="_blank">http://forum.redcafe.net/forum/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic&f=4&t=000182</a> ;)

I for one am not the least bit surprised that the board has told Sir Alex to sell yorke before buying di canio

It just strengthens my belief that the board will only allow ONE signing this summer (eg a replacement for Blanc) and any other purchases will have to be funded by the sale of outgoing players

How and what exactly is "Cheapskate bullsheet"? By the way, I wrote the article.

I wish York had gone. But as he didn't I'm glad we didn't buy DiCanio.
I don't think it's such a great idea to have more than 4 strikers in the first team. Some won't get match practice and they'll start spreading the wrong athmophere. It won't be good for teem spirit. Obviously it depends on the player. But for some reason I can't see DiCanio smiling from the subs bench.

Hopefully York will redeem himself by scoring a few goals against Arsenal.

Often in the past the plc's handling of transfers etc. has come across as short-sighted and graceless but I really can't see that the current board under Kenyon deserves so little faith.
I happen to think that it makes sense to save the transfer and wage funds for the new manager. He's bound to be a big name with an agenda of his own as to the required improvements. Let's face it, there is a clear danger that Yorke (with his appalling attitude an' all) will only bring in a small transfer fee (if any at all) when we manage to get rid of him eventually. Bringing in PDC would then mean that the new manager's hands would be more or less tied with respect to his set of strikers. That wouldn't be right IMO...

I'm not too confident on the speculative "big transfer kitty" for the new manager

I believe that the new manager will only be allowed to buy one replacement for the retiring Blanc and that's it.

47 million cash spent is still very much on the board's mind :(

itz a pity di canio wont be donning the red jersey..the nicer looking red jersey i mean, not the one wif a beer logo on it... Look wat teddy has done for us making e switch to the champion.Evenn not in the starter he had contributed tremendously..n tats wat di canio would hav done 4 us similarly. Little more ad assignments for beck would b enuf to sign dio canio. sigh.. cheapskate wld b an understatement. :o
