New media site embeds now available

Following the XenForo upgrade we've added support for embedding content from various media sites. The additions are as follows:
  • Apple Music
  • Audioboom
  • Audiomack
  • Bitchute
  • CBS News Video
  • Coub
  • Democracy Now!
  • Flickr
  • Gamespot
  • Giphy
  • GitHub Gist
  • Global News
  • Google Drive
  • Google Sheets
  • IGN
  • Indiegogo
  • Izlesene
  • Kickstarter
  • The New York Times Video
  • Pastebin
  • Rutube
  • Scribd
  • Steam store
  • TED Talks
  • The Atlantic Video
  • TikTok
  • Twitch
  • Vocaroo
  • Washington Post Video
  • Gamer DVR
  • Youku
You should be able to paste URLs from those sites into your posts and the media should be rendered in your post automatically. Of course it's got to be a URL with the expected kind of media - posting a new article from the New York Times won't do anything, it has to be a video from the New York Times.

Feel free to use this thread to test out any of the new embeds. Here's one I made earlier:



If you notice any of these new embeds don't work as expected let me know in this thread and I'll take a look.

If I accidentally refused google cookie access for this, how do I go about granting it? The pop-up has obviously gone now.
 
Testing, if x.com now works because it was only twitter.com

After the upgrade on Tuesday, yes. Before that X URLs weren't recognised and you had to manually change x.com to twitter.com.
 
So we can embed Github but not Pornhub? :confused:

Will this tyranny of the majority ever end?
 
Could we please add a few more video uploading sites?

The two current supported sites are Streamja (shut down) and Streamable (any footy clips get flagged almost instantly)

I'm looking into Bluesky embedding but there appears to no solution right now for XenForo. Apparently it's not as straightforward as other sites. The maintainer of the add-on we use for various non-standard media embedding posted this on Thursday:

With regards to Bluesky, I have done some preliminary work some time ago but I haven't had time to finish it. Federated sites such as Bluesky or Mastodon require some special treatment in order to be used safely and unfortunately each site has a slightly different way of doing things which requires its own custom solution. So in short, Bluesky is on my TODO (or rather, TOFINISH) list and it is my intention to do it this weekend because after that, I'm going to be busy for the next two weeks.
