New look Sky+

Its the new EPG. Not everyone as got it yet, although everyone should have it in the next couple of weeks.

Thought it was HD boxes only, looks like I was wrong.

Pogue, just so you know you can add ITV HD now I think too, I haven't got the update yet so I haven't tried but here are some instructions (from another member on a another forum) on how to do it if you fancy giving it a go.

"ITV HD can be watched via "Add Channels" on the new software being run out to Sky HD boxes!

ONLY if your box has received the new software Add Channels using these parameters:

H
2/3
27500

And add channel 10510, and watch it in Other Channels."

Finally!

The curse of ITV CL coverage is over!

(well, apart from the shonky commmentary and retarded pundits, there ain't a software upgrade in the world that can sort that out)

I think I love you...
 
There is a few limitations I think, don't think you can record anything on there but tbh I only want it for the football coverage. Better than nothing.

Let me know if you get it working. Also, when you do it, remember that they don't show everything on the ITV HD channel so it might actually be a blank screen when you add it.

Finally get to watch ITV CL in HD. I echo Pogues comments about the punditry though:mad:

David Pleat needs to be shot, even Ron the racist was better!
 
I know theres a button sequence to force a software update check

But i cant remember how to do it

Any hints???
 

I have not tried this and I don't know if it is good information or not so try it at your own risk if you dare!


How to force a software update?
Take care, if the upgrade is interrupted or the dish is not correctly aligned you can cause your box to become completely unusable. The procedure is as follows, whilst applying mains power to the digibox press and hold the backup button until the front panel LED'S all light up, the screen should now display a warning telling you it is downloading new software and will remain like this until the update completes. It is very important not to interrupt the download and equally important not to update unless absolutely necessary.

Gutted, did the software download thing as above. (you have to take the digi card out and use the backup button on the top of the box, rather than the remote)

It came up with a download message on the screen and rebooted itself after about 10 minutes and its still the old software!

not happy :-(
 
Cheers. Im not really arsed about a new look Sky + as I never watch Sky except for when the footballs on or one of my few watchable shows come on.

Nice to know those kind of things though :D
 
I got it last night. Pogue - you should have got a little guide through the post.
Its just on SKY HD.

I dont think i like it you know. I miss the cheesey sky music.

Yeah, I'm kind of in two minds.

I don't really like the look of it at all. It's all a bit... busy...

The functionality is much better though. I like the way you can flick up information on a show without actually changing channels and it's very cool the way you get the series link option automatically when you record something.

I'm sure there's loads of other good stuff I haven't discovered yet. I reckon it's all about getting used to it. I could navigate the old interface like a master, my remote was like an extra limb. Bound to be some teething problems when they make such a radical change.

If you look on sky anytime, there is a short tutorial on there about the new system.

It works! Itv in glorious HD!

Pity it's such a shite channel. Still, will make a whole world of difference when it comes to watching CL football. Which is the main thing :D

Yes, the poor picture quality coupled with the deluded ramblings of David Pleat. It will be a sad day, but fear not my standard definition viewing friend.

We get to half-time and we can laugh at the fact that Andy Townsends nose will be blurry and muted compared to those poor souls that have to witness the nasal monstrosity in its true HD horror!
