Match 15 - Cling Bak vs Cal

So onto the final, neither of us have decided on which player to add to our side yet, views?

Sahin for Anderson's an easy one.

Marcelo for Traore seems an easy one too because Traore needs to be taken out, but Benzema for Bojan's a huge improvement. If Cling's keeping with the PL-centric idea then Smalling in for Coleman/Douglas.

Song for Anderson purely because you need to have someone in midfield who adds a bit of solidity, helps that Wilshire's played alongside him too. If not that then Marcelo is certainly an improvement on Rojo.

Sahin in for Henderson's a big improvement but people seem to like the PL-themed thing he has going. Hazard for Walcott but the same applies. Higuain or Pato for Bojan, Higuain's the one for me.

Hmm... I get to pick one from PS' side and Cling gets one from Solius.

Crap I barely even followed my semi at all, congrats Cling.

That's very interesting, not Pato for Renato Augusto? Serious food for thought...

Marcelo would give my backline a great lift, as well as the fact that he's a brilliant attacker. Best LB in the World at the moment? Maybe.

Benzema for Bojan would be an improvement, but the latter still poses a great threat and it's not an improvement in an area that I need it. My front line is well covered, I feel.

For that reason, I'll take Marcelo for Traore.

Me either! Third time that's happened. I've not voted for myself in any of my games yet.

Cheers though Solius, good side you had. I expected it to be closer.

Wise choice in my opinion..

I'd have made the same choice but the only time I've seen Bojan play up front on his own was for the Spain u21s and he really struggled, I'm not sure he's suited to it.

He won't be shy on supporting options, here. ;)

what about swapping pato for a full back? You drop the full back , back up bale to wing-back position. Switch Mata to the left. Put pato on the right.

Trading Sahin to Anderson does seem right, as the team would loose United player extra factor.

Trading Pato for Augusto is even worse. Cling didnt even sack Bojan who is pretty useless player to get a proper striker. So getting rid of a player of Augusto talent is mental. Brazilian international, one of best player in Bundesliga. The potential leader of 2014 brazilian WC side. You dont sack player of such quality.

I meant once I sort out my internet connection, impossible to fiddle with the formation on my phone. :(

Cling Bak, but he is. He was hyped like new coming of jesus when he was 17, he was even handed spain call up. But since that time last 3 years he didnt make any progress at all. His position at Barcelona is weaker and weaker. Next year probably will be his last chance to prove himself, before barca shifting him out to middtable club, there Bojan could continue his mediocre trade. And he is also a midget. And probably not very suitable to be upfront alone.

Brwned, if you followed him this season at Leverkuson, you have to agree. Renato is one of the best playmakers in the world already. I said potentially a leader, because brazil have so much talent you never know. remember 2006 WC. Juninho Pernambucano was just a bench player , though every other of 32 teams participating teams in the torunament would have loved to build all their game around player like Juninho. Renato may be the 2nd/3rd best player in the world at his postion by 2014 and still not make starting 11 for brazil. But his talent is uquestionable. He single handedly took Leverkuson to 2nd place in Bundesliga , ahead of Bayern Munich.

I've not seen Leverkusen much but the 'potential leader of the Brazilian WC side' isn't even in the Copa America squad while there are quite a few other potential leaders of the World Cup ahead of him.

he wasnt called up? wow thats a surprise to me. But it aint easy to get those brazil call ups, ask da silva twins and anderson.

He's at Barcelona. Without falling into an obvious patronising speech, Barcelona are rather good so not commanding a first XI place every week over Messi, Villa and Pedro when you're 20 years old is not the end of your career (there or anywhere).

He's still played a lot of football for them and made nearly 40 appearances this season.

He is not, as you describe, a 'pretty useless player'.

if he was not that useless. tell me please why would Barca would be prepared to pay 30 mln for Giuseppe Rossi just to take Bojan place?

Anderson was called up. I think the Da Silvas will be in the WC squad by the time they're the same age as Renato Augusto is now.

well call ups aint most accurate measurement of player quality. I mean Barry is a starter for England and Carrick not always makes the bench. Same with Heskey who was a starter for England before retiring while 10 other better strikers failed to get a call up.

They're not a measure of quality they're a measure of importance to the national team. It doesn't seem he's all that important, never mind him being the star of the team...

You cant really blame Renato. he is up against Kaka, Ganso and Lucas for AMC spot, and Robinho for wide player role. It all comes down to the managers personal preference. based on players performances and not names, Renato should have been called up instead of KAKA.

1. Barcelona haven't spent 30 million (or 30 minutes, as you seemed to put it) on Giuseppe Rossi. Why would they, if they did? Because they always splash their cash. They spent £40m on Ibrahimovic when they had Eto'o.

2. If they did buy him, it's because Rossi is brilliant and scored 30 goals last season.

3. Rossi being brilliant doesn't make Bojan useless.

4. Has the word 'useless' been lost on you? Do you understand its meaning? Bojan is well rated and commands a place at the best team in the World (some are saying best ever), by definition it would suggest he's the polar opposite of 'useless'.

cmon obviously i didnt say useless as not worthy to play football at all. I mean not a top player, not good enough to star in Top Club.

Updated and ready to go, Cling, let me know once you've sent your tactics to Dr. Thx

hmmm ... not sure if that is a good move to be honest - Bale is no longer a fullback (well not a decent one anyway) as far as I am concerned

not sure if he is a full back. more of the wing-back. alves/marcelo style. Guess Mata would have some tracking back to do. as well as ando doing lots of covering.

Cal I had you down for walking this, putting Bale to left back though!?
