* The aim of the game is to select a team of 11 players from all the current footballers playing who are born on or after June 25, 1987.
* Players chosen will be judged on their careers so far, everything they have achieved, selection should not be based on how good you think they'd become.
* The poll will last for 24 hours

Match 5 - KM vs FortBoyard

KM

Tactics

Banega will sit and dictate the play with little pressure from Ganso or Canales, Sissoko and Wistel will take turns bursting forward and regularly combine to overload the central area (where Cattermole's so isolated and outnumbered) while Lucas and Sanchez will just tear their fullbacks apart (and at times overload the central areas even further) while Caicedo occupies the centre backs single-handedly and taking advantage of their naivety.

When the other team is in possession there's plenty of creativity in their team but no-one to dictate the play from deep with Ganso so high up and no-one providing the link between the defence and him. Cattermole's poor in possession and Canales is very direct and at times wasteful, no-one is setting the tempo. Added to that there's no width whatsoever, with the only potential width coming from the fullbacks which will be nullified by Lucas and Sanchez's exceptional work rate and potential danger on the break. There is real potential for a break through the central areas with Ganso-Canales-Sturridge and so Banega will pay close attention to Ganso with Witsel and Sissoko both being aware of Canales.

FortBoyard

Tactics

The team is based around a creative midfield with Canales, Ganso and Kroos (in a winger/playmaker role similar to Nasri at Arsenal deployed on the right hand side)

The Backline is solid and the striking option of Sturridge should operate well off the decent service, his spell at Bolton currently is underlining his potential as a goalscorer.

Surely Gibbs and Gosling are the wrong way round?

There are weak points for both teams, I'm baffled by the Lucas pick. Everyone only started hearing about him the other week. The 'tear his full-backs apart line' seems a bit exaggerated but with Gibbs on the right and Gosling on the left it doesn't help Boyards case. The Sissoko and the Banega midfield is very solid though.

I understand that mate, but he has really come into his own in the last few months, getting picked by Brazilian NT at the age of 18 is no small achievement plus he had a pretty good U20 World Cup.

Also love the name Dwayne :D

An 18-year old Rooney wouldn't have been a baffling pick despite being similarly inexperienced. Likewise with Giggs. Just because some people only started hearing about him doesn't mean he's not very good.

But it won't help when the majority of posters on here haven't heard of him. Rooney was playing in the Premier League too, which everyone on this forum watches. It's also based on what they've achieved.

Anyway KM gets my vote for having the stronger team.

It doesn't help that he's not as well-known as most but I'd hope the little people do know of him is enough to win a few votes.

He led Sao Paulo to first place in the Paulista ahead of the much-hyped Santos team, was key to the u20 WC (and u21 tournaments have been used by many as an achievement) and broke into the Brazil team at an exceptionally early age.

Went for KM, but not sure he'll go much further if he wins. Boyata just jumps off the page as a weakness as he progresses.

Why's the poll not public btw??

I've voted FortBoyard on the basis that I'm confused by KM's lines.

:lol::lol:

What I've taken from them is that solid lines indicate the main runs players will be making, so as Sanchez pushes out wide right Walker will come slightly inside him rather than overlapping. Alba is the more classic FB here, making a straight run down the wing overlapping Lucas. The broken lines to me indicate the positions they'll take up some of the time. If needed Witsel will fall back into the midfield 3, with Sanchez and Lucas sometimes bombarding the centre.

I went for KM, seems the stronger team allround, although neither of them strike me as outstanding.

Argh I'll remove the fecking lines from next times, costing me votes :(

Can someone explain to me what these threads are all about?

Basically, it seems to me that two people randomly pick a hypothetical team, and then people vote on which one is better than the other? Is there more to it than that?

I was going to vote against you for being the wise guy using the lines. But seeing you already feeling bad about it and learning your lesson. I reconsider.

who so quiet here tonight? come on guys the match is going on.

Very close this one,IMO.

I went for Torpedo KM, just much preferred his midfield and attacking players and think he'd definitely score against FBs defence whereas I cannot say the same about FBs attack

No post yet by FB in this thread, that's actually disappointing.
