seems marty ferguson is on his way to roma to scout nesta! why he'd have to scout him is beyond me. the deal w/ juve' has fallen thru and the door has opened for MU. so the rumor mill chugs along.

Obviously Martin Ferguson isn't going to Rome to scout Nesta. Obvious isn't it? If is sounds so silly - and it does - it's probably wrong.

i hear ya. the article states that he's on his way to rome to see nesta that due to something w/ agent moggi's conflict of interest w/ juve's gm (his dad). it says that lazio still owe MU for stam and w/cragnotti in deep it could swing it.

Alessandro Nesta is not a player who needs to be scouted. Therefore, if he's really going, it's not to evaluate how good Nesta is or something.

Also, he is not the person to discuss money or anything with anyone in Lazio. Bottom line: Just another rumour.

yea but rome is a big city with 2 big football clubs .. caus i also heard a rumour that we keen on Walter Samuel......

wtf?
a new player that will cost the best part of 20 million and ppl are questioning the fact that we have people looking @ him!
You cant just go out and buy a centre half just because hes decent on Championship manager and that soccernet says hes the bees knees.
By looking @ him up close you can asses his

fitness
attitude
playing style
work rate
reading of the game
positional play
set piece play
passing

of course your going to scout him.
Honestly i sometimes think that certain fans believe that Fergie just buys players cause everyone says their good.
He mightnt fit into our style of play, he mightn work well in a flat back four, he might be weak in the air.

Football Italia claimed that it was SAF himself who was going to the rome derby to see NESTA, i think in either case it is a bit more than a scouting trip .... wink wink .

BUT AT 40mil .............. NAHHHHHH !

If Fergie himself is going (as possibly pointed out here as well) than maybe, but he won't go for a 30m player because of someone's advice. Veron was 'his' signing and so was Ruud. Actually, all our big transfers were his as well, like Yorke and Stam. This while Forlan and Solskjaer for example were strongly based on the scout's advice.

I'm not a football scout and I don't watch a lot of Lazio on TV, but even I can answer most of those questions.

nesta for 25m? my ass! 35 more like.

remember in the summer of 2000, the article in the sun "united in for 8m figo" <img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laugh Out Loud]" />

the paper said £25m...still i think it's expensive. £20m would be reasonable. I want to see him play for United. He is ahead of Hofland on my list. Hopefully on SAF's list too. We'll see :) :p

We don't talk in Euro's.

Maybe he was going to scout Jaap Stam <img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laugh Out Loud]" /> <img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laugh Out Loud]" />

What an unfortunate waste.. Don't you want your star to be playing at teh highest level....most west ham fans acknowledge that PDC should be..

no, sorry for you... this is true... Nesta has always said he likes Spain.

Speaking of United-related centerhalves, Kevin Hofland was sent off during PSV's win tonight.

hey just writing down what i read. and nesta does not need to be scouted. enough is known about him. but i think that he'll stay in italy. the interesting bit is that lazio still owe on stam so........

btw Murt, I agree totally with your post!

Nesta looks awful against Montella, he was at fault for two of the first three goals Montella scored I think. Pity him, must be in two minds knowing that Fergie (supposedly) was watching him.

Don't be so serious about this match. Everyone in the football world know how good is Nesta. Fergie has no need to go to see him personally to find out how good is him. Besides, I don't think a player who have already played dozens matches for Italy, including the Euro2000 final, will become nervous when he know someone called Fergie is watching him.

Form is temporary, class is permanent. This game meant nothing. If Fergie was going there to get the wheels into motion, this wont stop him.

Whats all this £40 million bol**cks. Lazio are in debt and owe creditors, juve dont have 40 mill after last summers spending, real want vieira as their "big summer buy", and we certainly would not pay that much, i doubt he will go for that amount, more around the 25 - 30 mill mark.

I agree with Murt's earlier assesment in regards to scouting - it is important to see for yourself, not just trust someone else's opinion. Besides, a scout could give Sir Alex a better idea on whether he would adapt to English play or not, which is very important. I'm sure Fergie has more sense than to just trust public opinion.
If Nesta cost more than 25m, than United should stay away from him imo. Hofland plus Tudor would amount to about 30m, which would be a bargain when you look at Nesta on his own. :D

Maybe it was his intention to play poorly just to let Fergie think he is crap so that Fergie wont try to take him to England. AHHHH!

:p

btw! Is he better than RVN??? Dont think so, I say £18m for him! If i was Fergie i wont pay more than that for him.
