Can't tell if this is serious or not.
Nerdcore is serious, but it's also extremely gimicky.
There's a lot of really good alternative hip-hop out there though;
Busdriver, could be described as geeky (not silly glasses geeky), here he is rapping over Mozart's Sonata in A Major
Astronautalis is again pretty geeky (without being silly about it), rapping about the Battle of Trenton, British heresy trials, 19th maritime memoirs and suchlike.
Here he is rapping/singing about con-artists
