I thought Rio had a poor game by his standards, but Nemanja really stepped up tonight, he was a beast. Drogba was ineffective for most of the game, mostly because of him. Then Drogba was so annoyed at being kept in his pocket he decided to slap him and got rightfully sent off.

Our MOTM along with Ronaldo IMO.

You know what, I couldn't agree more.

Usually when people laud him all over the place after a performance, I usually feel they have gone over the top. Especially now his goals seem to have dried up.

But he was really fantastic tonight. Couldnt have asked for more.
 
I'm convinced he'll go down as one of the greats. Drogba causes all defenders problems with his strength. Not Vidic. He was magnificent and the sending off just typified how much of a stranglehold he had on Drogba and pretty much anything else that he was faced with. The goal we conceded was pure bad luck, VDS would have snuffed it out if he hadnt slipped, not to mention the two deflections. Always been a big fan of Vidic. Terrific defender.
 
Brilliant display by Vida, I think we can now say we have a world class defense.
BTW, Wes Brown for RB next season please! Showed that he's quality and shoudl retain his place there, deserves it!

The ESPN presenter was saying "it seems like in the 2nd half, the only thing seperating chelsea and a 2nd goal is nemanja vidic.."

I am inclined to believe. He's unbelievable. Rio had a dodgy night, but Vidic was fecking immense!

Certainly MOTM. One thing that pissed me off is how sky refused to show some of his CRUCIAL interceptions. There was one bit of defending I think in the 80th odd minute where on the half way he made one tackle and then another one otherwise Kalou would have been through on goal. IMMENSE

He basically stopped everything chelsea threw at us.Hes the craziest defender i have seen play for United,putting his head everywhere to save us.
 
credit for vidic, he's everywhere to stop chelsea. apart from the goal post. another contributing factor, i think, is the fact he played there for 2 seasons. that must have made him feel a lot settled than the others.
 
Best performance in a United shirt. That proved to me that he should be held in the same regard as Rio. He was totally immense tonight and kept Drogba contained for the entire game. A true warrior today.
 
Vida is rarely put on par with Ferdinand, but he showed us all tonight, when Rio had a rather poor game, he stepped up to the fecking plate. I love him.
 
vida would have broken dogbreath in half but terry came in between. thank god for that otherwise he would have been sent off also.

I don't understand why. Its like there is a clear gulf between the two, they are so evenly matched. Lets not forget that Rio has been as good as he is because has has Vidic as his foil. FACT

How many balls did he clear in akward positions tonight? He had at least 2 Risse moments and came out smelling of roses.
