Best game I've ever witnessed in the Texas/OU rivalry. Great win for Texas. They better keep it up as their next three games are against top 12 teams and a latter game at #16 Kansas (who might have a loss by then).

vs #12 Missouri (Austin)
vs #8 Oklahoma State (Austin)
at #7 Texas Tech (Lubbock)

This is a season when I felt Texas would be rebuilding with an underclass secondary and no top running back. But the defensive front seven is outstanding, McCoy has turned into a bonafide pro prospect at QB (thanks to 15lbs of muscle added in the off-season) and a solid group of receivers making big plays. Jumping from #5 to #1 today is the biggest jump in the polls to 1st since Miami in 1988 (#6 before beating then #1 Florida State, 31-0) but that was after the first weekend of the season. Texas hasn't been ranked #1 in the regular season since 1984. Texas began the 1984 season 3-0 before a 15-15 tie with #3 Oklahoma dropped them from the top spot.

I'm not too concerned with Missouri but I am quite curious about Oklahoma State. They actually played some defense against Missouri but if UM can contain their offense I am fairly confident Texas can. If UT can get through this murderous three game stretch they should enter the Big XII championship game at 12-0 and probably face Kansas or Missouri a second time.

It appears Penn State will run the Big Ten (plus One) unbeaten. They should be too much for Ohio State even though it's in Columbus. No one else on that schedule can stop PSU. Alabama's biggest remaining game is against LSU in Baton Rouge. Personally I hope LSU knock them off but should they not we could have an unbeaten Alabama playing Florida or Georgia in the SEC title game. USC could win out but that loss to Oregon State will haunt them in the end.

It would be nice to have just 2 undefeated teams at the end of the year. If Alabama is undefeated when they go to LSU the atmosphere will be amazing down there with Saban coming back. That being said LSU looked horrible this past weekend against Florida

The big conference title games basically ensure that there are very rarely two undefeated big teams anymore when the bowls are decided

UT is currently skull fecking Mizzou 28-0 early in the 2nd

My goodness that was a delight watching Texas rips Missouri's ass especially listening to all the naysayers calling for an upset. In fecking Austin! This squad is looking quite frightening right now. Like they are starting to realize how good they are, have that confidence and leadership, and the talent oozes from every position. Just hope they don't get too cocky and have a let down next week against Oklahoma State or the following week at Texas Tech. Personally I think they'll win both games but you just never know.

Say what you will about the defenses in the SEC but show me an offense in the SEC that can outscore Texas (or OU or USC or PSU). Because Texas might struggle against an Alabama or a Florida but they'll still score at least 20 points. Can those SEC teams do that?

Some good games coming up this weekend as well:

No. 8 Texas Tech at No. 23 Kansas
No. 7 Georgia at No. 13 LSU
No. 3 Penn State at No. 9 Ohio State

To a lesser degree Washington vs. Notre Dame just because of the coaches involved.

Texas has a brutal upcoming schedule:
10/25 No. 6 Oklahoma State
11/01 @ No. 8 Texas Tech
11/08 Baylor
11/15 @ No. 23 Kansas
11/27 Texas A&M ESPN360.com

Great fecking game between Texas and Texas Tech, Tech wins it 39-33 with one second to go

Sad day in Longhorns nation. Can't believe those last two plays. Dropped interception that should have won the game. Then the next play I won't fault the cornerback for challenging the receiver but what the feck is the safety doing just walking by? He should have been laying a hit on the receiver to avoid a catch or going for the ball. Two young players fecked it all up in the end.

That said I'm calling for Oklahoma State and Oklahoma to derail Tech's season thrusting Texas right back into it.

It just sucks for Texas that they lost now and not earlier in the season. Voters typically penalize teams for losing later in the season. Of all the unbeaten top 5 teams I think PSU has the easiest schedule coming up.

Texas Tech: Oklahoma, Okl. St., Baylor
Alabama: LSU, Miss St, Auburn

Plus I believe both Texas tech and Alabama have conference title games, but I might be wrong. There are so many 1 loss teams out there it will be interesting to see who makes it.

Plus I believe both Texas tech and Alabama have conference title games

Depends on Tech losing a remaining game and I believe OU will beat them which could create a mess on who wins the South division. It could come down to step 5 and Texas has wins over OU, Missouri and OkState and potentially Kansas; Tech has a win over UT and Kansas and potentially OkState; while OU has TCU and Kansas and potentially Tech and OkState. So Tech would most likely get dicked in the BCS while Texas and OU would be very close to one another and probably Texas' win over OU catapulting them on the tiebreaker. Course should Tech drop two games then Texas wins outright over OU.

Divisional Champion: The (eligible) team with the best winning-percentage of all divisional members in its eight conference games is declared the divisional champion and representative to the Dr Pepper Big 12 Conference Football Championship Game. A team ineligible under NCAA or Big 12 rules for postseason (bowl) competition shall not compete in the Championship Game.

Divisional Tiebreakers: The following procedure will determine the representative from each division in the event of a tie:

a) If two teams are tied, the winner of the game between the two tied teams shall be the representative
b) If three or more teams are tied, steps 1 through 7 will be followed until a determination is made. If only two teams remain tied after any step, the winner of the game between the two tied teams shall be the representative.

1-The records of the three teams will be compared against each other
2-The records of the three teams will be compared within their division
3-The records of the three teams will be compared against the next highest placed teams in their division in order of finish (4, 5 and 6)
4-The records of the three teams will be compared against all common conference opponents;
5-The highest ranked team in the first Bowl Championship Series Poll following the completion of Big 12 regular season conference play shall be the representative
6-The team with the best overall winning percentage [excluding exempted games] shall be the representative
7-The representative will be chosen by draw.

Crazy talk from OU perspective here http://www.oudaily.com/news/2008/oct/30/column-big-12-tiebreaker-could-get-crazy/

I will be shocked if Tech doesnt lose one of their remaining games

I would love to see JoePa when it one last time and ride off into the sunset

He cannot be replaced.

How in feck did that guy from UT drop that interception talk about letting the national title slip through your fingertips

He is probably not the most popular kid on campus right now, that is certain. His confidence is probably at an all time low.
